    Who had the better career?

Not who would win in a fight (that would be 70/30 Hatton...! overpower, outmuscle... and Hatton would show Gatti what a truly-devastating left hook to the body looks like!).

what's interesting (moreso than debating who would win, perhaps) is who would the better career?

We have Hatton who was in many people's top-10s p4p after the Kosta Tszyu fight (and performances between then and Mayweather... then he slipped out)..., a 2-weight world champion. And arguably the best or 2nd best long-term light-welterweight of HIS particular generation (having been someone who stuck around there, rather than just moving up through the weights.../upto welterweight).

    Then we have: Gatti.

Does either of them deserve a spot in the Hall of Fame?

    Discuss.

Hatton, Hall of Fame in Britan for sure
Gatti, Hall of Fame visitor, not a member.

i've not been around here long enough to see how Gatti is viewed on these boards.

incidentally, i was a Gatti-fan. Not the greatest boxer, no.
Blood n Guts champion, though...! Great heart, always entertained.

I would say Gatti had the better career. He fought some of the top guys - made hell of fights - and was always interesting. Next to Diego/Castillo - Vasquez/Marquez - Barrera/Morales - Gatti/Ward was some of the best fighting I've seen.

Not taking anything away from Hatton - but other than Kosta - Mayweather - and PacMan - there's not much to get excited about. I also thought he lost to Collazo - but these are just my opinions.

I'm going with Gatti. No he didn't make more money than Hatton and if we're talking in that sense - then Hatton would be the favorite. But in terms of Career - I don't think Hatton would have won against some of Gatti opponents - but would have loved to see him and Ward go at it.
