what is the greatest career turnaround, is it angy dundee and jimmy ellis? i cant think of too many better! but post away.
Buddy Mcgirt's work with Gatti deserves a nod. Holyfield's career after Tyson added some years, can't believe he's still at it.
Mike Weaver was quite impressive. The first 5 or 6 years of his career he was really just an ham-and-egger. Then from 1979 - '85 he was always one of the top 3 or 4 men in the HW division.
I know it's a stretch but Lionel Butler in the loser bracket. You are right Duranimal, how'd I miss that.
Freddie Pendleton was a true trial horse early in his career and had barely a 50% win-loss ratio when he caused a big upset and KO'd Roger Mayweather. After that he became a legitimate contender and eventually won a Lightweight world title, along the way doing well against Pernell Whitaker and drawing with Frankie Randall. He also scored some good wins over Tony Lopez, Jorge Paez and Daryl Tyson before eventually fading back into journeyman status. Still he always remained a very dangerous opponent for the simple fact that he could punch.
Emmanuel Augustus. He never became champ like the others, but after showing great stuff against Mayweather he went into a bit of a decline, losing to guys like Tomas Molinares and Kelson Pinto, whom he should have beaten, before pulling out of that with his fights against Trujillo, Burton, Rangel, and Oliveira
