Who were some champs/contenders who saw their promising careers hurt by cuts and injuries.

Some that come to mind for me are Jorge Linares, Buddy McGirt, and Alan Minter.

    Are there any others?

Walter McGowan dominated Charchai Chionoi twice only to lose on cuts.

Talking about Minter. I remember at the time he got all kinds of advice about how to be disciplined in the ring because he was susceptible to cuts and they did a great job with him up until the second Antuofermo fight. For the Hagler fight he went back to the old Alan Minter and all that went out of the window.

Kevin Finnegan - There was a chance Kevin Finnegan could have joined the Worm and Boogaloo in posting a victory over Marvin Hagler 1st go round, he lost others due to Cuts, Brother Chris had a few problems too ( Maybe Guinness does not envigorate the skin as much as water ??)

Funny enough someone was talking on fb the other day saying both those Hagler fights exist on film. I was always under the impression they weren't about.

Some say Cooper started to bleed during the pre-fight instructions.

"Henry Cooper not bleading is like Niagara Falls not falling" a headline once read.

Maybe overdoing it a bit as only 4 defeats out of 14 was due to cuts. Ali twice, Bates and Bacilieri

Tbf even when he was not stopped on cuts, the cuts above the eyes always affected him.

Vito Antuofermo was one of the top ones (large Brow), I was at his fight with Harold Wesson and he all but stopped Wesson and was ahead but a horrible cut caused by a clash of heads and they stopped it, he was blinded in Hagler 2. Henry Cooper was another famous bleeder. Jerry Quarry had the Ali fight stopped because of cuts (not sure how bad they were but his vision was impaired)
