Well, it was a chore, but I watched the entire fight. It was really slow at the beginning, but picked up during the second half. How anyone could see this as a close fight, I don't understand. The only score which made sense to me was the judge who had it 9-1 for Persol. Olson was old and slow and simply didn't, or couldn't, let his hands go. And he rarely jabbed and I never noticed one Olson jab snapping back Persol's head. Persol was jabbing all night. Persol didn't seem to have any power, but he was way too fast both on his feet and with his hands for Olson. A caveat is that Dunphy was at ringside and I am viewing a so-so tape, but my reaction was it was only around the 8th and 9th rounds that Dunphy started to get real about describing the fight I was seeing when he said Olson was way too slow and his only hope was Persol running into one. The earlier blather about big left hooks and brutal body work sure didn't show for me on the tape. I personally scored all ten rounds for Persol. Thanks for posting.
Dunphy, who to me is just not very good, came up as a radio announcer. He called TV as if people couldn’t see it. It never occured to him that people watching at home could see that what he was saying simple wasn’t what was actually happening and thought he could convince them they were hallucinating and it was always a fantastic fight.
