lol he's super hairy. Yes it's great. ''Empty your mind. Be formless. Shapeless.. like water'' I love that.
I think Shane McGuigan was exposed last night, telling him he lost a round he clearly won?? That isn't reverse psychology it's idiocy when the guy is looking for confidence. The guy was clearly dejected after first two round coz LSC used his huge reach and height advantage and the very fact that a supposed 'World Class' fighter and trainer don't know how to adjust to that is beyond pathetic. World class fighters can adjust mid fight E.g. Calzaghe v Kessler. Jesus how can he say he surprised him by using his advantages? Was he going to do what he did in first fight and lose again. Shane Mcguigan got on my nerves after. He looks like a guy who's had everything handed to him.
Might be time for Carl to step up with another trainer. I know these guys and the McGuigan family are tight, but even Barry must realize it's time for some new blood, some new ideas. Otherwise Carl has reached his limit. Like I said and others on this thread, he can't deal with a basic jab. I don't care how much arm advantage Leo had, there are things you can do to counter act that advantage, and if the boxer can't figure it out, someone else needs to teach him!
I should explain myself: What I mean is that for a guy to give up the HUGE physical advantages Carl does against someone LSC (or Selby) and get the win requires everything to go perfectly for the smaller man (as indeed it did in the first fight), or for the bigger man to have fatal flaws and/or defects. It would be different if LSC has weaknesses - like poor stamina, chinny etc - but LSC has no such defects. Carl cant hurt him and outboxing him is a HUUUUGE ask - almost impossible. Thats why the first fight performance from Carl was so exceptional. Can you see LSC losing to Frampton again?
If Carl boxes a boring fight, conserving his energy for quick point scoring counters and in and out footwork, he can win a decision I feel. People seem to forget Carl had a bad night last night yet only lost by two points. Considering he practically gave away the first two rounds through confusion at Leo's tactics and the fact Leo put on a career best performance, of course Carl has a chance in a 3rd match. Some of the criticism towards Shane and Carl is very harsh. They made a bad call believing Leo would box the same way he did in the first fight, the same way he ALWAYS fights. It's one if the only bad calls they've made in Carls whole career so I'd cut them some slack. Nobody said Leo would box how he did before the fight. They now know Leo can box clever as well as brawl so they'll have a different game plan for a third fight. A more alert start last night and Carl gets the draw when not at his best. The extra weight that slowed Frampton down was another bad decision that won't happen again.
