How soon people forget. Carl scored a cleaner one-punch stoppage of Kiko in their first fight than Quigg did. So the assumption that Quigg is the "big puncher" of the two is not safe.
Also Carl was never behind on the cards over 2 long fights with Kiko, whereas Quigg deffo lost that first round - big time lost it, by a mile.

I'm interested to see who Quigg will face next.

He really would go up in my estimation if he was to beat the original belt holder, and the man that never lost it... Rigo!

Hell, I think he'd have a great war with the fella that Carl was last in with.

You make a valid point about Frampton stopping Kiko prior to Quigg but you need to stop with this 'Quigg got dominated for a round' nonsense mate.

The fact is Quigg is starting to look a much better fighter than some of us - myself included - thought he could be. I still think Frampton beats him but it's definitely not the forgone conclusion I once thought it was.

That said, one swallow doesn't make a summer and one devastating round against a still dangerous but shopworn opponent does not make him the mini-tyson some of you are trying to have us believe. He also still doesn't hold a legit belt and has never sought to clear up that Salinas business.

    Did Reid really say that?

Took Quigg 9 rounds to beat him in what was Quigg's 19th fight (Frampton's 19th fight was for a world title)
Frampton took him out in 2 rounds in what was Frampton's 8th fight

Does anyone see size being a factor in this fight? Quigg is much the bigger of the two.

    Whats nonsense about it?
Its al we have to go on mate - what else can I refer to when i want to compare Scott to Carl??

You have eyes - you saw it for yourself. The fact is that Kiko bossed Quigg all over the ring for as long as the fight lasted. Do you deny that? Fact is that in 20 rounds with Carl, Kiko never dominated one single round remotely as much as he did that first round against Quigg.

Yes, he got complacent/careless, and yes Quigg did take advantage, but there is no telling how it would play out if they met again. Could you rely on Quigg pulling off another Hail Mary? What is his track record for 1-punch stoppages? Not great is it? so, no, you couldnt.

If anything that Kiko fight caused Quigg to go down in my estimation. Yes - you heard me. Down - not up. It was alarming how poorly he coped with pressure. Retreating in straight lines, not moving his head. Looked very limited. I'm around long enough to not put too much faith in 1-punch stoppages, particularly when the guy hasnt done it before or since.

Yes Quigg is good, and yes he is a threat to Carl. He is not a walk in the park for anyone. But I dont agree he is, as you say "starting to look a much better fighter than some of us thought he could be" - He looks to not have improved at all since he plateaued against Munroe years ago. That is still very good I agree, and he is dangerous, but he has never raised his game like frampton has.

So he wasn't shopworn after Munroe had beaten him twice, but he was after a 12 round blowout vs Frampton in which Carl boxed him carefully to a decision? Do me a favour.

The fact he destroyed him in 4 minutes, where as Carl had to protect his china chin by boxing on the back foot for 36 minutes?

Scott was happy to take a shot knowing he'd let Kiko walk onto one. Carl doesn't have that luxury due to packing china in his chin.

All Quigg fans see to have to cling on to is that one shot against Kiko. He didnt dominate the 4 minutes did he? If anything he was getting shown up.It was alarming how poorly he coped with pressure. Retreating in straight lines, not moving his head very basic one-dimensional stuff really.
You guys are investing an awful lot of faith in one single punch. :) :)

Which boxer won the fight in the devastating manner that they did, Len? Kiko or Quigg?

Which boxer got put on his **** by a Mexican road sweeper? Frampton or Quigg?

Not as much no. I'd expect even you to understand that. The Munroe losses prob did take something out of Kiko, just as the Frampton ones did after.

However, Kiko arguably delivered the best performances of his career after the first Frampton loss and was on a pretty impressive streak coming in to the rematch. He then fought some guy with a 50/50 record and got blown out in two by Quigg. I do think the second loss to Frampton demoralised him yes.

Impressive by Quigg but not without caveats. I'm looking forward to the fight now and honestly don't care who wins. Now shouldn't you be creating another alt baiting another specific poster on this site or whatever it is people like you do?

If it was five or six rounds then you'd have a point but winning the opener means very little. Fact is that he tried to put it on Quigg and came unstuck. Martinez prob had a similar estimation of Quigg as myself and thought he could just jump on him and bully him out of there.

You're trying to read far too much from a single round in a fight which Quigg went on to win in spectacular fashion.

Have a look at Frampton's comments after Kiko's wins; he rubbished the lot. He knew as we all did that they meant very little. The idea he was this brilliant opponent that Frampton destroyed is a myth created by the Irish. The truth is that he's a straight-forward plodder for whom anyone with a boxing brain can beat with ease.

This is my only login. :good

I'd say that it became seen as a much better win after he went on to demolish Romero, Mathebula and Hasegawa but whatever.
