Think your showing ur colors here with bigoted comments like that... U know that wee British lad you were shouting and screaming for on Saturday night would be completely applauded with comments like that and "your views" are exactly the views we are trying to eradicate in Northern Ireland Check the last census if u want to know how many people in Northern Ireland hold a British passport, please don't be ignorant aswell as being a bigot..... Last time I checked I'm not sure I'd be eligible for a French passport
This is a great comment.....we proved with the MTV Euro music awards and the Giro D'Itlia that promoting our country in such a way brings in both trade and revenue and we always perform when the spotlight is on... but whether it's feasible not not I'm not sure.... I assumed a large part of the reason Belfast City Council had to stump up so much cash was because Kiko was so expense to get over here to fight.... I assumed he was basically cashing him out on top of the price of building the stadium... With the money invested in the 3 stadiums i don't know why they can't be held at any of them
how big do those tent arenas get they have for gigs at places like marlay park and big top at cork ??.....would they go up to 20,000 capacity size. ...its a temporary structure and I thought last weekend was going to be one of them when first announced. edit : I read the marlay park type tents are 5000 capacity ...but roskilde festival in denmark has 17000 capacity....so probably too costly of an exercise that. it'll have to be outdoors though if its that many people again. windsor park would seat over 12000 maybe more for boxing.
Holy sh*t!! This is just complete ignorance The question of nationality in Northern Ireland is absolutely lost on you. Please read something on the subject before you embarrass yourself any further.
Cheers Doug. The thing is we got away with it once. Had the fight been any night in August it might have been rained out of it. as it was people were freezing...Barry McGuigan even stopped for a few seconds to commiserate with my wife who was frozen next to me. even he realises he pushed his luck with an outdoor boxing event in Iraland. Doubt it will happen again outdoors. But it was VERY well organised and run, loads of portaloos etc it's just the climate here....
well....if they could figure a way of tenting an arena like saturday night in some cost effective way, thats the answer....no need to heat it as body heat inside it would keep it warmer.
The only way it even MIGHT be financially viable to do such a huge tent Doug, would be if the fight could be synchronised with some other major event(s). The ADDITIONAL cost of such a huge tent on top of building the arena would sink the promotion if it was funded just from the one night of boxing alone. What I mean is something Such as a multi-day music festival etc major trade shows...tourism promotion etc... Hope it CAN happen, but I won't be holding my breath.
What's the biggest indoor arena in Dublin? I'm from Belfast but a weekend in Dublin would make for some atmosphere, only two hours down the road too.
Kiko was a very different fighter he was a few years ago , he has really improved and his win in Japan was very special. Frampton is the real deal , could be the new Hatton.
Jeezus, it was cold, I walked to the arena around 2pm just for a quick look, nice cool day, arrived there at 6pm, but thank god I wore a jacket that night, could not believe the icy wind that hit the place, I fled back into the VIP Titanic lounge & guzzled away in the warm until the main event, that's why I'm just getting over a bout of bronchitis, staying up till 5.30am after the fight, in the Europa piano bar didn't help the immune system, 3 hours kip, breakfast, pack & checkout, 6 hour wait for flight home that was delayed for 2 hours, I was shattered, but what a fantastic town Belfast is, without doubt the fight capital of these islands, this was without doubt the best event i've attended here in the UK, Belfast folk made this a fantastic show, I can't salute Belfast enough! Well worth all the traval aggro just to experience big fight night in Belfast!
