I've always reckoned he could have moved down a weight

He doesn't really need to move up in weight, as his legacy is already secure. Also add the fact that he he is natural at 168 and has no problems with making the weight.

But ultimately it's up to him, if someone offers him good money to move up then there is no reason why he shouldn't take it. He is has the size to make it and is good enough to pick up a strap or two. Hopkins is a horrible match up for anyone, especially Froch, but the other titlists are very beatable and would make for entertaining fights. Saying that, he'l have to do it asap as he's already old.

I think everything he has in mind before retirment can be done at 168. Two more fights max after Groves. No time for moving up a division. It is a shame he isn't a few years younger as I'd love him to move up and fight.

What he could do after he wins is fight Degale and Groves on the same night, test his claim.

Georgie might have a chance then.

Yeah divisions been around since the late 60's although it wasn't loaded like it is today so not that many fights to be made back then.

My point is that it's the opponents you beat that make a fighters legacy, not the weight divisions, pacs 8 divisions is amazing but only because he fought great fighters in those divisions.

With Hearn, Leonard and Duran at MW at the time, he didn't have to move up to have a legacy.

I know he walks around at only a few lbs above the weight, but do people really think he could move down? He's 6ft 1 and looks fairly gaunt at the weight. Would think he'd really struggle to make 160.

Pointless now at his age anyway.

He looks quite a big lad at super middle to me,and when was the last time he boxed at middleweight? By the same token, people say Nathan Cleverly is small for cruiser. I bet he had a right job to make light heavyweight. I would say Carl is a far bigger middleweight than Marvin Hagler.
After Saturday,I thought more people would be suggesting Carl move up and fight Stevenson. Not many saying it before though.

He'd have to chop a leg off.

after seeing his interview on the news yesterday i think he may retire after saturday, especially if he wins. he spoken of his vegas dream, but even fighting there would be an anti-climax after a rammed wembley.
