If GGG wins poll and Froch doesn't offer fight I will explode. If the fight is proposed to GGG and he wants a catch weight I will implode.

GGG is winning so far, but its close with Chavez.

Froch fans are voting Chavez, boxing fans are voting GGG

    :deal

Why do I have this awful feeling that no matter who wins this "poll" Degale will be his next opponent? Particularly as Degale won an IBF world title eliminator!!

    :yep

It would be hilarious to hear the old geezer call out GGG (the bogeyman who boxing writers claim no-one wants to fight). And since GGG's camp are supposed to be looking at a GGG-vs-Ward fight, then i'm sure they will be only too happy to move up to fight The Cobra.

I don't care who gets the most votes out of Chavez Jnr and GGG...just as long as it isn't Degale!!

The only time Chunky has fought a genuine contender (Groves) he got beat (a close fight, but he lost) and his "IBF eliminator" was against a guy (independently) ranked lower than Callum Smith and Rocky Fielding ffs!! And at the age of 28 Degale still talks like he's auditioning for an Attack The Block/Ill Manors remake!!

    **** him!!

You are bang on with your analysis of the casual British boxing fan and who they would select. Which is why Froch's camp polled this on Facebook and not a boxing site.

    My personal preference would be:

    1. GGG (It would be interesting to see if GGG's camp would demand a catchweight).

    2. Chavez Jnr (A fight I believe Froch could win, thus setting up a Froch-vs-GGG US box office Super Fight).

    3. Degale...An awkward southpaw who has a style to potentially give Froch all sorts of trouble, but who won his eliminator against a guy who had no business fighting in such a bout!! Add to that the fact that I just hate listening to Degale (especially when he is trying to hype up a fight).

I really hope GGG doesn't ask for some stupid catch weight thing especially as he is a big MW. Froch is the champion and he will get to challenge for a title and get good money and exposure in the process. If they can make it in Las Vegas then Froch will take it but the bigger point is will GGG take it as he has a lot of unfinished business in the MW division and Froch is a huge step up in quality for him.

Golovkin is a big MW? He fights at 168/169 which is lighter than a number of JMWs such as Nelo or Trout rehydrate to.

OTOH Froch fights pretty light for a SMW at around 172/3 so the two guys are actually fairly closely matched in terms of weight.

My assumption is that this fight would be at 168 though as Froch is the clear 'A' side and GGG is certainly in no position to dictate terms.

I also wouldn't condone Team Golovkin asking for a catch-weight because apparently their fight night weights are quite similar anyway.

It is a step up for Golovkin but Golovkin is probably at least as good as most of the guys Froch has beaten. Would definitely be a good fight which could go either way imo.
