To be exact it's 75kg limit in the ams, which is 164lb. TBF GGG also fought won Olympic silver at this weight limit.
Update: the gap is now less than 400 votes.

To be exact 75kg is 165.3lbs, so I guess we were both just off.:yep

The point I was trying to make is that Carl has fought at the 165lb+ limit since his amateur days. So Froch's claim that he walks around at 171-175lbs, yet has always fought at 165+ (since his senior amateur days) and 168lb in the pros would be an extremely unusual career strategy.

Having met him, my guess is that the lad walks around at 185+, which means he drops 17lb+ during a fight camp, which seems about right.

That said, Carl could be far stricter with his diet these days (it was a few years since I last met him) so maybe he does walk around at 171-175 these days.

    Thanks for the update Adil!

How anyone could vote for Degale is beyond me!! Only Chunky's relatives and his posse could be voting for Degale-vs-Froch (why is it that whenever James Degale speaks I think of the movie Attack The Block?) as James is a no sell in the States (which is where the big money is) and Chunky is only known in the UK for losing to Groves (and his Olympic Gold). In short, Froch-vs-Degale is simply not a big money fight.

Add to that the fact that Degale does possess an awkward style that could easily cause Froch all sorts of problems, and you have another reason why Froch (who probably only has two fights left) would be advised to swerve Degale.

Chavez Jnr has a huge fan base and a Froch-vs-JCC jnr fight is a minor US box office event, which would earn The Cobra a far larger purse than were Carl to fight Degale. And I believe that Chavez Jnr is the easiest match-up (of the three) for Froch.

Were Carl to beat Chavez Jnr, then a megabucks fight with GGG would be a fitting swansong for a warrior like The Cobra.

GGG closing the poll to only 300 votes between the two.

Surely Carl isnt gonna let his career end on a KO loss to a kid a division south.:rofl

    :thumbsup

I recall Williams' lack of activity being put down to his being "the most avoided fighter on Earth"...which is tantamount to saying "My promotional team are shite and cannot get me some decent fights"!!

Speaking of Williams, I remember his first fight with Quintana!! I have never witnessed such a lackadaisical ring walk!! I turned to the missus (who was only watching 'cos i'd given her the old "this is a great fighter" hype) and went "This guy is gonna get turned over"!! And Williams lost via decision. Williams then decided to take Quintana seriously and KO1 Carlos barely a few months later!!

As a fan of great boxers, I think it is tragic that the only time we see Ward near a boxing ring is when he is color commentating!! The guy is p4p number 1 or 2 (I consider it between him and Rigondeaux) and we should be able to enjoy watching him fight 2-4 times a year at least!

GGG wont fight him. Froch would easily beat him in any facet of boxing.

Chavez would be a great money making fight which people would pay to see. It would also be the toughest fight.

Yeah.....you'd probably **** your pants 100 times before Froch actually calls out GGG.

Cuz GGG for sure aint calling out Froch. He's after Cotto, Canelo, and Floyd....and Chavez Jr as well.

Froch would be plenty $$$$ for GGG, and Im sure GGG would gladly tke the fight if presented, but nobody truly believes Froch is looking to go out like that.:think

both fighters have a lot to lose. it will be a tough fight for both. it will come down to who is the better fighter. i think frochs style of fighting fits right into ggg's hands. not taking anything away from froch, i just think ggg has better skills
