    The ultimate Froch/Calzaghe comparison.

Who did Joe make his first title defence against?

And who did Froch make his first defence against?

Froch was only 4 pts behind. The last round would have been a 10-7 round. So he would only have lost by one point. But he didn't allow himself to lose. Factoring in Froch being a rookie champ, in giving away experience to Taylor, in fighting in America only 2nd time ... all that, and he's done very well. In hindsight, things were bound to be tough.

He has just won in spectacular fashion, and some fvcking losers on here are raving about Gerry Penalosa and dissing Froch. It really is pathetic.

Anyone remember the super middle glory days? Calzaghe v Veit 1 and 2, Beyer v Sanavia 1 and 2, Ottke's "bad decisions". Things are much better now. Thanks to fighters like Froch.

Oh, and he will look better against different styles than Taylor's.

But you see a alot of the people predicting a Froch victory, like myself, were using his constant fading down the stretch as one of the main reasons for a Froch victory.

Combine that with someone like Froch who just throws heavy handed bombs with reckless abandon, then you've got a stoppage waiting to happen.

Agreed with the OP - Good job Carl!

1st Defence, away from home on the more expirienced challengers home soil, getting kd'd in the 3rd then coming back to win by KO.

I don't get the UK fans hating on Froch. He called out Calzaghe because of his padded record and years spent fighting in his own backyard. Which is a legitimate shout. Calzaghe claims he wouldn't fight Froch because he wasn't a big enough name or draw. Well just look at some of the no-marks on his own resume.
I'm not saying Froch would beat Calzaghe, but he's not totally unjustified in calling him out, or disparaging his record which doesn't stand up well to too much scrutiny.
I agree that Froch makes good fights. He did exactly what he said, went abroad for his first defense, fought a top guy, smoked his boots, retained his belt. Some people seem determined to give him ZERO credit for some reason.
