Carl Froch has no chance at all against SOG

Froch always looks very beatable but has only lost once by close decision to Kessler who Ward beat. There is a big difference in those fights though, as Ward was fighting at home where he was allowed to foul and the ref was warning Kessler. Froch was fighting away. Ward probably had a good uninterupted camp (I dont know, just guessing), but Froch thought his fight with Kessler was cancelled due to flights not happening. Frochs flight was cancelled 3 times so he stepped off training a bit. In the end Froch was taken to Denmark by private jet a couple of days before the fight where he had to undergo a long car journey to get to the venue and then fulfill press demands. Then fight with a damaged ear affecting his balance. Thats not good preparation.
In the only other fight with a common opponent (Abraham), Froch looked better than Ward.

Ward hasnt shown he can fight away. With the fight in America it gives Ward the advantage AGAIN.
If the fight was in the UK, Ward would be like all of the other American SMWs that have fought in Europe in big fights ie, Taylor, Dirrell, Sheika, Johnson (fights out of America), Lacy, Manfredo, Andrade (fights out of America), Mitchell, Brewer and thats not nearly all

The only certainty is that Ward can only win on points (although yes, he is definitely the favourite if that happens). That means there are 12 rounds where anything can happen.

People have been saying "Froch has no chance at all" for every fight he's had since before the S6. Froch always finds a way.

Froch will be competitive and at some point will force Ward into a war. In those exchanges Froch can win. I think if Froch can get reasonable success landing early and wear Ward down then he can end it in the late rounds.

Don't get me wrong, Ward is the favourite, but "Froch no chance" is stupid!

 

Froch definitely has a chance. He is a very awkward customer, and a real warrior. Ward is the slight favourite in my mind but I think this fight is a close call.

I would have to watch the fight again to be accurate and thats not something I fancy doing this evening.
I seemed to think Froch edged a close fight.

 

I think it's gonna be an ugly fight regardless of who wins, but yeah, I'll be surprised of Ward doesn't win.

I think it will inevitably end up being fought at close quarters and Ward will land enough short clean, shots to tally up the rounds.

 

It's interesting that all the top fighters in the SMW division have questionable victories hanging over them: Bute vs Andrade 1, Froch vs Dirrell, Ward vs Kessler, Kessler vs Froch. Okay some people might argue the winner was fair in some or all of these cases, but there is some scope for debate, whether related to the ref/count/judges scorecards/headbutts etc. That's partly what makes it such an exciting division. It is not clear who is top dog at 168.

I wonder if Ward even takes the Bart over the bay to SF? I hope the super six final is at MSG, as it would be fairer!

Froch got a gift to Dirrell
Lost to Kessler handily.
Got lucky against Taylor who if he took a knee in last seconds would have won the fight.
One credible win against a walking punchbag AA who got a gift against Miranda
Pascal has never been good.

Ward is too much for one dimensional carl

 

The quintessential question about the sweet science put right here in this Showtime tourney final - when a hard hitter redefines his fighting approach for having met harder hitters, does he automatically become a boxer with a hard punch and does he have the set to deal with a pure skillful boxer? My answer is no. So forget about the excellent gameplan and performance put by Froch against both Abraham and Johnson. He comes short to beat convincingly speedy boxers and hard hitting boxers in Pascal, Dirrell and Kessler THEREFORE he is not expected to outfight Ward.
