Obviously a lot of the hatred comes from our Asian friends who despise him because he said Khan isn't the greatest boxer of all time. However, I've noticed a lot of southerners hating on the Cobra and i was wondering why. Then it hit me.... Ricky Hatton, Johnny Nelson, Carl Froch, Kell Brook, Prince Naseem, David Price, Tyson Fury, Lee Selby, Joe Calzaghe, Ricky Burns, Carl frampton, Scott Quigg, Anthony Crolla, John Murray, Martin Murray, Jamie Mc Donnell, Tom Stalker, Luke Campbell, Fred Evans, Carl Thompson, Anthony Ogogo, Ricky Burns, Kenny Anderson, Michael Gomez, Junior Witter, Steve Robinson ...and many more besides. What do these Brits all have in common? That's right, none of them come from the overpriced, over populated, over polluted capital. For the last couple of decades London just hasn't produced many credible fighters, (even Anthony Joshua is from Watford). Who have you had? Audley Harrison :rofl :rofl and David Haye. Is it a desperation to finally have a World Cahmpion making you see things that aren't there? Is the humiliation of Manchester, Liverpool. Sheffeld, Cardiff and Glasgow all out performing you finally driving you insane. It must be, no other reason for Froch to be anything other than a national hero. Keep backing Groves though, the price on Froch is getting silly. :good
Most of the "hatred" you talk about Kahuna was/is local rivalries, example Hatton fans Vs Witter fans, Brook fans Vs Khan fans... Thats were I see most of the "hatred". Anyway I'm from London and like a lot of those fighters on that list, there are a few i don't like too. And why would London boxing fans be bitter? When was the last British Heavyweight world champion born outside of London? Arguably the best British fighter of all time was born in West Ham... Lennox Lewis. If this is about Froch then I think this is nothing to do with Froch being from Nottingham it is to do with the rubbish he has talked and his arrogance ... Groves is just as guilty, probably even more so.
I don't live in London and I think Froch is a **** as do most people I speak too about him. Then again maybe were the ****s?!!!
Lennox Lewis is a Canadian Jamaican who flew under the British flag for commercial reasons. I loved him and I'd agree he was 'our' best fighter of all time. But he's as much a Manc as a c0ckney.
Two very simple questions for you Kahuna... Where was Lennox Lewis born? And Who was the last British Heavyweight World Champion to be born outside of London?
Yes mate clearly a London thing. Thats why 20 odd thousand fickle northerners cheered Froch into the ring and booed him out in the first fight in Manchester. Spot on, great thread.
