I thought the exact same I also thought he won the first Kessler fight close yes but imo froch was not clearly beat by any stretch
He’s definitely HOF worthy, he’ll get in eventually. Fought everyone, never backed down, iron will, granite chin, tough as nails, underrated boxing skills, great finisher, and a very entertaining fighter. The more I look at his resume the more I respect the guy. I’m just glad he retired at the right time in good health given his fighting style.
He beat Ring champions at 160 and 175, went 50/50 with one of the other outstanding super-middles of the era, and beat multiple other world titlists. His only non-avenged loss was to an elite fighter and P4P contender. It's a very strong resumé and HOF worthy by any standard, without even applying the Gatti lowest common denominator principle. If Froch is not deemed HOF worthy, it makes it very difficult for all but the best of the best of this era to justify induction. With a two fight a year schedule and difficulty in making career defining fights, it isn't as easy these days to put together a standout resumé above and beyond the 60 or 70 fighters holding belts at the same time.
To be fair to McGuigan, his best win (Pedroza) is superior to Froch's, although the overall quality is obviously not as good. I prefer to gauge by a more representative measuring stick. Brian Mitchell is a good example; he doesn't have an eye-popping ATG resumé, but he's generally thought of as a justified Hall of Famer.
Well, he had a great case for being placed ahead of Shane but Shane got a steroids pass by the voters.
I couldn't agree more I don't understand how more people don't think he won. It was close but Froch edged it.
Kalle already had that strap and ready to throw it round Kessler waist before the ref even got the result Kalle dispised Carl with a passion
Carl Froch was my favorite fighter during his time.. I love when guys overcome limited athletic ability and still prevail to the heights of the sports all while facing the elite competition of his era.. That holds. alot of merit when you have a guy like James Degale who had all the skills and athleticism but grossly underperformed during a weak SMW era.. IMO opinion Carl Froch has the best SMW resume hands down and for that he’s definitely a HOFer but there will be an delay due to the new 3 year wait period instead of 5..
Because Sven was efficient but never exciting. Not his fault. Good fighter but very difficult to watch at times.
Froch is a shoe-in. A fighters fighter all the way. Ottke should be in also. The KTFO of Mundine was one of boxings greatest moments in the past quarter century....lol
