Yup you're right. Assuming he beats Inkin, which I think he will, and assuming JC vacates will he just inherit the title or will he have to fight another fight?

Most likely - inherit - that's what the rules say and both Inkin and Froch are well enough rated for it to be considered a decent vacant title fight.

I think he'll just get it, which I'm sure you'll just love

I'm sure they'll be looking for a big name defence though, sounds like he wants Taylor

He won't get Taylor or Pavlik. Really bad risk/reward for them.

Why do you always assume the worst from me?

Well he's not going to get Pavlik anytime soon, looks like he's staying at 160 with a fight against Rubio lined up followed by Abraham. Pavlik is only going to be tempted by a fight with Joe

Taylor's reward would be a version of the world title. He's got to accept he's no longer a big fish. Kessler hasn't got a belt which makes that unlikely, and he is the only big money matchup for Taylor. Bute doesn't offer any greater reward than Froch, and Taylor might fancy his chances of outboxing Froch rather than Bute. I don't really see why it couldn't happen if Froch gets this belt

Because Froch is even more unknown than Bute, say, and because Taylor will only fight big fights. Froch, even with a belt, is not a big fight. Won't happen until Froch beats a couple of people ranked and well-known in the USA e.g. Miranda, Andrade, Lacy, Green, etc.

Ah okay well I don't really like them but I accept they are a necessary evil & I guess if this is a final eliminator & JC vacates then it would be unfair to make Carl fight another fight to get the belt.

I agree with what you say about Taylor. He shouldn't turn his nose up at a WBC title shot coming off two losses.

Realistically, there aren't many huge fights for Taylor, certainly not of the proportion he is accustomed to. This is supermiddle, the chronically overlooked division, there are no decent Americans which is the "problem"

I'm not convinced Bute is any more known than Froch in America, and is certainly not to the degree that he would overlook the chance of picking up a belt against a fighter that might be much easier to outbox

I suppose it depends on whether Taylor wants to earn a few paycheques or actually make some noise in the division. If he wants money he can simply fight the names you've mentioned, a washed up Lacy, a fringe contender Green, or the popular Miranda. You are probably right, he may take this route whilst waiting for Kessler to do the hard work before making a big fight

Taylor will go for the money against big names, instead of legacy and titles, until he can get a big fight against a name for a title, I think.

    Sad but true :-(

That ****er will wait for Kessler to do all the work in order to make the fight as lucrative as possible. You can just see he is waiting for that fight, and it is not viable at present with both coming off losses

The unfortunate thing is guys like Froch/Bute/Mundine will not get their chance to make a big name for themselves against Taylor as they will probably have to fight Kessler first after which they'll be forgotten about :-(

    Ah, boxing politics.

If Bute beats Andrade in autumn and then another fighter known in America, I think Taylor will agree to fight him in 2009. Kessler is too much, I think. We'll see.

I'd like to see one of these other guys get a chance at Taylor. If they fought and beat him as I believe they would maybe this very talented division would FINALLY get the respect it deserves. That is Bute, Froch or Mundine. It wouldn't be such a suprise when Kessler beats him

Even Andrade would be a very good test for him. I didn't know Bute was lined up to face him, what is the news there?
