Carl Froch: If I would've been cut then I would've gone trough with it

I wouldn't say Bute's a glass jawed muppet but he was clearly down for over 10 seconds. :good

 

In the 12th round, all a fighter has to do is stand up. He doesn't have to stand correctly. As soon as his hands clear the mat, the fight is over. You still haven't found the time to read the rules, eh?

Anyway, even with your numbers, Bute should have won. About all the referees count slowly than realtime.

Most of us have a filter between the brain and the tongue that keeps us from saying most of the stupid things we think of. Carl, unfortunately, was born without one. But what the hell, his crazy ass interviews are a big part of what makes him good for the sport.

It's funny that a lot of people came to be Froch fans the same way I did. Started out as hard core haters, continued to dislike him but grudgingly granted a modicum of respect, started openly granting him respect, became more or less neutral, became closet fans, and finally, became serious fans. A lot of people traveled that path.

 

Everybody is fixating on whether Froch would have fought with that cut when they should be fixating on how the **** ward GOT that cut!

Froch wouldn't pull out with that cut because he would not HAVE got that cut!

 

Count should have started at 0:59 (from what I can tell :blood), and But gets up at 1:08. But I don't know what the exact rules are on what constitutes as "getting up". Is it a case of simply getting up to your feet even if your head isn't cleared and you're still daisy (like Bute was)? Or do you have to be in a clear state to be able to continue?

I don't think he was up right until that point. If that had been at any other point of the fight it would have been stopped.

 

I don't remember the IBF rule "word for word," but Marlon Wright had the authority to call the fight the way he called. However, a lot of refs would have no doubt made a different decision. Some refs would have stopped the fight a minute or so earlier when Bute was taking a pounding all over the ring.

The important thing for me was Bute's actions afterward. He insisted on the rematch, and cleared things up emphatically.

The fight could have been stopped. Bute didn't throw any punches and took a ton of unanswered shots and his legs were done. All he wanted to do was grab.

 

Same for me. After Bute, he's the one I like the most at SMW, and then Kessler.
