to be fair, if froch wasn't 'gifted' a fight with taylor he still wouldn't have had his launchpad into world boxing and may still have been doing a witter - calling out bigger names who earned their stripes but not crossing the pond to do anything about it.

after saying that, froch has done his very best to get where he is and has fought anyone.

a lot of fighters don't realsie that though that saying you'll fight the best and making that option a reality has a lot to do with sucking up a little ego and crossing ovee to the states to prove yourself over there first

An advertisement for what though, its hardly a product placement is it? Is it any different from someone saying my ________'insert dead relative here' was looking down and helping me win? No one mentions that as being 'boring' I mean Katsidis brother didn't help him beat Marquez did he?

But so what, it helped him (or not) who are we tell him other wise - or as implied here, tell him not to mention it?

People need something to hold on to, something to believe in, some people chose God, others something else.

Also why should it be private? Because you said so? I'm not trying to be rude I'm genuinely asking?

I dont believe in what any of these fighters believe but it isn't no big deal, people just want to nit pick who cares what a fighter believes in. If it helps him perform, then good. Let him believe in the boogey man for all I care.

Then it would have been a weird statement if you don't believe in something why address it?

That doesn't even make sense. You are REACHING!

Not offended at all. Just saying I find it boring. (only combined with the thanking everyone else and the cliche responses - the thanking god only takes 5 seconds so that on its own doesnt bother me)

But combine the lot and you have a boring interview.

yes you're right about the paying tribute either way people do it.
but ive got a pet cynicism with people who throw god out on the public stage all the time - even though i know some people do it as paying tribute (which i can respect).

I see what you are saying now. Had Froch won though I think you would have heard alot more of those "thank you's" (especially to his girlfriend, brothers, Rob etc etc)

Nonetheless the interview (although pretty similar to what he said in the ring) was good. I think he will and can improve but will always have an issue with very good technical boxers but there aren't THAT many of those in boxing let alone his devision.

For me he is the #1 British boxer by far. I just wished he was treated better here. :(

God, in any form or shape is the biggest product of humanity right now.
No other invisible product can produce such money as the sale of this product alone.

I see what you are saying. It always makes me smile when I hear someone say something like this BEFORE a fight especially, I personally wouldn't have the balls to say it cos I'd be thinking about what would my excuse be if I lost?? :patsch

But I realise it isn't easy for these guys to do what they do, it really takes ALOT.

So they probably just have to focus their mind on something to help them get through it, or maybe they really do believe in what they say? Who knows.

from my experience, a lot of guys who wear god on their sleeve do it because they grew up with him and more often than not as a means of a sort of salvation or comfort from a life of poverty.

i think it's part of what keeps some people 'whole' when it could have been real easy to go off the rails during bleak times.

its like the discipline of an atheist who has spent his whole life in the fight game but keeps fighting even when he's way past his expiry date - if its all you know, it can easy to be afraid of what will happen toyouif you lose that discipline and stop fighting.

I'm not going to argue with you here but a product placement is when a TV show has a bottle of coke in it (say Xfactor) which it is therefore implied it endorses with the hope of its viewers buying that product and in return for the product placement the TV show gets money from Coca Cola.

In this instance there is none of that, Ward doesn't stand to gain financially or otherwise by mention God (unless you are saying he has some deal I'm unaware of)

I think dude just believes in God for whatever reason.....

I understand what you are saying, but I think we're slipping into another subject. (Yes religion generates tonnes of money, maybe more than anything else)

Yea I guess it could be a crutch of some sort, I dont think about it too deep, human beings can be weird cookies and trying to make sense out of what they do will take more than my (or your) life time.

Plus if someone does something straight crazy you have to be able to just sit back and just say "well ****, that is just insane, there is no other explaination for it" LOL!

Me personally, I know for a FACT I couldn't be a boxer, I could do all the training ( I do now ) I could take a good ass whipping (had it kicked before lol) but I couldn't be away from my family, plus I couldn't handle all the attention (Im odd like that)

So I know some people will need certain crutches to help them through it.

Much closer fight. Had a better argument. He would have sounded like a fool if he argued that he beat Ward.

Stupid f*cking thread. When you just got your shyt kicked, do you usually thank God?

The winner usually gives thanks for a successful outcome. Not the loser.

I wish fighters would thank God, their sponsors and teammates/trainers in the dressing room.

Don't they know how annoying that is, they watch boxing and see other people do it.
