Dirrell was greener when he fought Froch, his first fight on the big stage. Dirrell it seems by all accounts is a better fighter now and my money will be on Dirrell should they ever meet again. Although Froch better than Abraham....maybe you know, they both have similar styles and it would be a proper tear up. Would love to see that fight! Are they scheduled to meet in the super6?
I don't agree that he's weak mentally in terms of his nature. But I think right now he is in a fragile state and doesn't feel confident that he's got a lot left in him. That's not an encouraging thing to hear when the guy is going in against someone like Froch, who would be confident in a win over a grizzly bear, even if he has no reason to be.
Styles make fights, its hard to say any fighter in the super six is better than any other until it gets nearer the end. Abraham has always been a very lazy fighter, but it was a shame the fight ended as it did cause you never know. How many times have you seen a losing fighter come back and score a KO. Just think if any of these fights ended a round before in DQ for the (at the time) winning fighter Tyson vs Botha Chavez vs Taylor Froch vs Taylor etc Dirrell looked good last night and put on a much better performance than when Froch beat him. Wheather that was due to Froch we will find out later in the competition. To say Froch is better who knows, but Froch is alot more proven at SMW than Abraham, and in light of Dirrells performance against Abraham it makes Frochs close win look better
You never learn not to get to exited after watching a particular fight and not to jump to conclusion for future fights. AA will beat the **** out of Froch because Froch will come to him. A big puncher is aways in a good position against a pressure fighter with no defense like Froch
No. He's actually never been a lazy fighter. It's his style. He has a low punch output style. You try that style out some time in a gym and tell me a lazy person will commit to that game plan round after round.
I think Froch might stop Kessler or have a very good showing overall....but Carl is tailor-made for AA...
AA and Froch are scheduled to meet in the 3rd round of the tourny. As a fan of Froch, I am concerned about this match up... Last nights fight I found incredibly frustrating. I won't deny to being biased in my preference between the 2 fighters, I really wanted to see Dirrell get beat, and I think he may have lost should the fight have run it's course (though I also won't deny it was certainly a fair DQ). Dirrell looked phenomenal from start to finish, blistering hand speed and awkward combos set AA off balance from the beginning, he really did box the perfect blueprint to beating AA. What frustrates me though is that even though I had Dirrell winning every round, AA was beginning to open up more and he was catching Dirrell in the later rounds. Who knows what would have happened had the fight reached the 12th, my original prediction was AA round 12 TKO and a DQ is never a satisfying end to a fight, especially when you've been looking forward to it for so long.
I admit its not mentally lazy, but it also isnt a high workrate style, its as you say a low punch output style, so maybe I was a bit wrong to say lazy, but it isnt active physically either
I want King Arthur to win the super six but What he did last night was ****ed up. In a way I'm glad Dirrell won because I thought he boxed beautifully against Froch and deserved to win that fight. It would be a shame if he gets eliminated early partly as result of the Froch fight. AA vs Froch. Now this I wanna see. Hope King Arthur ****s him up good.
The Dirrell that he lost to unofficially would beat him again, only this time more convincingly and officially.
At the same time Froch has good power, and Abraham was smacked up by Dirrell, not a big puncher, and put down! Froch has a chance if he lands more often than Abraham does. Anyways lets see how he fairs with Kessler.
