Yeah, he is. Classic fights vs. Taylor, Kessler, Pascal. Groves I banger. Bute hypetrain derailment, Groves II putting a stamp on the first fight. Kessler II beating Mikkel soundly to the point where you figure he could have done it that way the first time if he were disciplined. Fight vs. Dirrell he lost in my opinion. I guess the main thing I prefer for him over his contemporaries, even Ward, is the quality of his fights and the higher frequency of big fights.
100% yes. He represented what we all want to see in boxing, exciting fights and the balls to fight anyone
I'd say so. Ok he was never a multi weight champion or undisputed but he is a 4x world champion at 168 and 1 time unified. Took on all the hard fights and produced many classic fights/moments. Pascal - classic Taylor - classic Bute - masterclass Dirrell - classic Kessler 1 & 2 - classics Groves 1 - classic (until ref butted in) Groves 2 - highlight reel KO. Less said about the Ward & Johnson fights the better.
If he was such a great HOFer why did he draw only 80,000 to Wembley when the stadium capacity is 90,000? Answer that question for me. Go ahead.
I think because he's a tough guy with a good chin, his boxing gets overlooked. He can look crude at times but he had a good jab and was good at cutting off the ring. Quite economical with his punches. He bronzed at the Worlds, so he always had decent fundamentals.
My first take is No, and he was a hell of a fighter just ask him. I rate HOF by Duran, and if you can get there plus or minus Duran's stature even with no mas then there it is. All the greats there From Ali to the sugar rays and Hearns to Hagler are the benchmark from the Marcianos before them. With that being the case then it all goes downhill. HOF is a business just like anything else, so sure Froch gets in while Groves is the only world beater he ever beat. Hof is more of the same; Keep em coming and keep em taking. Tim Bradley puts it in the dust bin for me so put em all in as far as Im concerned and when the Canelo con gets in straight away it will be a place for casuals to have a slobberfest anyway.
Of course he is... people get too wrapped up in 0s ... froch was everything I love about this sport... the guy fought a murderers row too ... he has one of the best highlight reels ever, his run was classic after classic..
It's not track and field dumbass.. there are many Fighters who have come & gone (with far more athleticism than Froch) who got nowhere near where he did ..
Yes if the likes of Barry McGuigan are in there then Carl Froch definitely should be. Wins over Kessler, Groves x2, Taylor, Bute, Abraham, Pascal, Dirrell, Johnson, is a pretty solid resume.
