he could have 3 fights, all winnable in his eyes, each one bringing in less than half the money of a groves rematch.

he could have a groves rematch where he might lose and then have to retire.

which scenario business wise brings the most money to him ?

 

As mentioned money talks, and fighters only have a limited career opportunities. I suspect KesslerIII, WardII or Chavez pay better money than a Groves rematch, so perhaps Groves needs to find another path to getting to the top of the game.

Froch is coming to the end of his career and needs to make as much as he can. After all legacies are nice, but I know I would rather be in my nice Mansion in my mid 50s looking on proudly at the family, than slugging my guts out for 40 hours a week into my 60s, just because then I can go down the local and boost to strangers I was pro boxer who listened to the Internet rather than my accountant...

Groves is the money fight for Froch. A fight with Chavez, Ward would definitely not pay half as much. Ward or Chavez would make him say 2 million absolute top end and more. Kessler 3? You must be joking, that **** us not PPV worthy, you think Hearn will pay Froch a million to fight Kessler again?

Groves fight would fill a stadium, every network would want to show this fight it would be absolutely massive. Froch would bank millions win or lose.

I'm a fan of Froch and Groves but to say a rematch is not needed is mad, and to say you as a boxing fan would rather see him fight Kessler again is insane.

I would agree with all of that. But outside the UK, people are not that interested in the Groves/Froch rematch. The calculations may very well work out that keeping sweet with the US market is the best financial option for Froch. And the US TV markets do not want Froch/GrovesII...
