He's only been a champ for just over 4 months, and in that short space of time in the UK we have had Haye v Wlad being made, Hatton v Pac, Calzaghe retiring and Khan v Barrera (media wise, for a boxer, Khan is huge in the UK).

Boxing in the UK is not as high profile as it once was and there is only a limited amount the British public are willing to latch on to. On top of that we are in a world wide recession and one of the major boxing TV showers over here is in big financial trouble.

Froch is never the most marketable fighters at 30+ anyway....

It's just one huge unfortunate mass of events. As I said though it's bad because we need fighters doing what both Froch and Haye are doing, rather than make a thousand meaningless defences.

Sadly it appears the general public are equally impressed by a boxer smashing up a tomato can as they are taking on a dangerous opponent.

Just over four months on the "world scene" is not a long time to gather support though....

I just think Mick Hennessy has no idea how to sell a fighter - once he is taken off his well trodden path he is clueless.

He cannot sell Witter, Murray or Thaxton - and Tyson Fury is selling himself!

Mick Hennessy's an arsehole. This whole affair proves it; and Steve Bunce ramming his head up his arse live on air every week doesn't help...

Setanta - "The Home of Boxing" - :patsch

Setanta's boxing coverage is exellent IMO - far better than the crap we get from Sky.

    Meaningless fights all night long.

As I have said before, had Froch simply done his own TV deal rather than paying a % to his promoter, he may have got an acceptable amount - or simply get the wife or one of his parents to be his manager rather than a promoter?

The trainer gets 10% of the purse, the manager gets 15% - if the promoter is manager was well Froch would lose about a third of his prospective purse.

The reason why Hatton has so much money is because he does his own TV deals in the UK, which are ****ing huge. Froch wouldn't be able to draw anywhere near that level of cash, but still.....

He's setting himself up for a bit of a fall if he loses this fight, with those remarks. Unless of course he's willing to stay on in Canada/U.S regardless of the result. There are definitely some attractice fights for him to make if he does stay.

It's a buyers market for Setanta, bidding for rights for boxing matches. If they don't show a fight then who else is going to show it? Not Sky if they have a no Saturday night fights policy and they are they only other network with a sports channel.

Hennessy should have just taken whatever Setanta were offering, he only gets in a position to negotiate big deals if different networks want to show Froch. As things stand he gets no money and no coverage so Froch is unlikely to get much more marketable even if he beats Taylor.

Gotta feel sorry for Froch. I know he runs his mouth a bit but the lad is clearly doing things the hard way and should get some backing from back in the UK if not from fans then from the TV execs. Also using Hennesey doesn't help
