Carl Froch retired today. He spent his whole career at 168 pounds. He has a solid solid resume but was never the best fighter in the division.

I have him top 10 in history at 168.

Is that fair? Where do you rank him?

    He's about level with Kessler.
Not sure if they make top 10 at 168 (since the division's existence 1980s)

    Why is he level?

He beat Kessler, on top of beating

    Jermaine Taylor- Linear Middleweight Champion
    Lucian Bute- Undefeated World Champion
    Jean Pascal- Linear Light-Heavyweight Champion
    Andre Dirrell- Undefeated World Champion
    Arthur Abraham- World Champion
Glen Johnson- Linear Light-Heavyweight World Champion
George Groves 2x- Beat James DeGale

    This destroys Kesslers resume of

    Carl Frocuh
    Librado Andrade
    Anthony Mundine
    Markus Beyer
    Eric Lucas
    Manny Siaca
    Allen Green

I'll have to think about it. He was definitely one of my favourite fighters to watch.
Had an element of Rocky Marciano about him. I think he's retiring at just the right time.
He was not able to secure the last one or two fights he really wanted and has nothing left to prove.
    No point sticking around...

No he's not. The division had Michael Nunn, Roy Jones, Gerald McClellan, Michael Watson, Lindell Holmes, Frank Tate, Frank Liles, Tim Littles, Prince Charles Williams, Graciano Rocchigiani, Andre Ward, Nigel Benn, Joe Calzaghe, James Toney, Chris Eubank, and even Leonard & Hearns.
