Carl Froch or Steve Collins ?

Lennox Lewis is older than Mike Tyson, yet when they fought Lewis was in his prime whereas Tyson was 15 years past his.

People age and mature at different rates especially in a sport like boxing.

Benn was shot to **** when he fought Collins, i can't see how any sane person can argue otherwise.

Eubank, was shot mentally not physically when he fought Collins - the Pre Watson Eubank would have finished Collins when he had him hurt.

 

Collins wasnt in his prime either, but neither Benn nor Eubank could beat him...no point saying what if...Collins had a lot of long battles and I dont think either of them would ever have beat him.

Collins/Froch? Not a lot between them imo. Collins was more skilled though.

And as for Benn,if you do not realise he was completely shot then you need to watch a different sport thats easier to understand.
This is not just opinion but gospel. Benn was shot. Are we clear now?

Eubank had a very strange prime, didn't he, well according to some British fans anyway. He was prime up until 94, then totally shot in 95, and then bounced back to prime in 97 be a great opponent for Calzaghe. You don't see that very often.

 

Yeah. Eubank looked good in his previous fight to Collins.Henry Wharton I think, who was no world beater but still a very dangerous puncher.

 

Eubank was still prime against Collins,Collins was more past it,hebeat a shot Benn though,but Collins would have been a hard fight for Benn at any stage,Collins beats Froch in a tough fight..

 

Eubank beat Collins in the first fight imo.Clear 4 point sweep of the last three rounds with the knockdown included(the only real 10-8 round of the fight) was more than enough to edge him ahead of what had been a relatively even fight before then.Collins outworked him over the first 9, but the better quality of work was coming from Eubank.

Eubank wasn't washed up per se against Steve, but he had lots of trouble making weight after the first few years of his reign.Something that was clearly showing by the 2nd Benn fight.He just wasn't able to give consistent performances anymore at 168, especially on the busy schedule he operated on.

That said, against Collins the first time around, i thought he looked as good as he had done against anyone post-Benn rematch.in some of those fights against amaral, Schommer etc he looked awful.

I thought he looked sharper than he had done since the Benn to Jarvis period against the Cat, but Cruiserweight was too big a jump up.

 

Felt he was quite unlucky not to get the nod against Collins 1st time round. Hometown decision imo. How did the 2nd fight go? Never seen it myself.

 

Collins cleverly changed his style to constant fast paced swarming and more or less dominated.it was an ugly fight with little clean punches landing.Eubank looked more like the fighter that had showed up against Schommer etc.

 

I know! Its almost as moronic as some of the opinions expressed on Holyfield vs Klit bros on the general.

And I've just noticed that some posters there are picking Sturm over Hopkins in a mythical matchup. I mean really.
