Calzaghe fought a Eubank on the way out.

Waited till Reid was beaten by Malinga before fighting him.

Waited till Woodhall became leftovers before fighting him.

Could've fought (but didnt) Liles, Ottke, Mundine, Girard, Echols, Beyer and more

What exactly did Leonard do at MW to earn such esteem ?

He had four bouts and went 2-2.

    Marvin Hagler.

Close controversial decision over past-best Hagler, where he dictated all of the terms.

    Thomas Hearns.

A loss, in most peoples eyes, including Leonard's.

    Roberto Duran.

His only clear win. Against a man 8 years and 25 lbs beyond his best

    Hector Comacho.

    Loss by KO.

He would have struggled with Bernard, very possibly lost.

And I would give him very little chance against Monzon.

Let's take the Leonard from the Hagler fight.

Stylistically, his fast two handed offence, hand speed and foot speed is a stylistic nightmare for Bernard. Ray has a granite chin, and an iron heart.

counted for a lot of money in joe's pocket right before he retired. joe was shot too you know. his hands were gone, his punch resistance had gone & he could barely be bothered to train any more.

stylewise even a shot rjj should have given joe more trouble than he did too...it's not like joe could bang...but yeah...it's not like it was a superfight or massively important...but hey...it is what is...relatively good win over a faded great who was still world ranked.

    :rofl:rofl:rofl

no-one faces literally everyone dude. name one fighter in the last 20 years who has "cleaned out a division" & i'll name 5 fighters he didn't face...wanna play that game? no? then **** off.

I allowed that the BHop bout would be a pickem.

    Much less chance with Monzon.

reid turned down that fight when he was champ...calzaghe would have faced him whenever...& proved that by facing him when he had something to lose but nothing to gain.

typical ******ed bull****...people don't know **** & make up a narrative that fits their preconceptions.

That's the thing with Ray Leonard, Ray could do it all in the ring. Provided it's a close to prime Ray (from the Hagler fight), I give him a chance against Monzon. If Ray hadn't retired in 83, and developed into a natural MW whilst still in his prime, he'd be a H2H great at MW.

reid refused to fight calzaghe when he was wbc champion

all woodhall had to do is beat his mandatory then the unification would have happen but he lost to Beyer

ottke did not want no part of joe calzaghe you never heard ottke call calzaghe out but you always heard callzaghe calling him out

Byron Mitchell beat Liles and Girard imo

mikkel kessler beat Mundine and Beyer

    bhop beat Echols

I think it's Ward who is being overrated yes he is a good fighter some say great but lets look at the division without the rose tinted glasses on most of them are predictable plodders or has beens or middleweights.

Yes ward beat kessler but come on kessler that fought calzaghe would have been a far closer fight froch goes life and death with this version of kessler and even slappy joe beat kessler comfortably what does that tell you about the divisions truthful talent compared to the previous era.

The only guy that's capable of beating ward is dirrell but they've made certain to keep those two apart I am not saying ward isn't on the previous era level he is but he would lose or just sqeak a decision against some of them.

Look at the ward bika fight it's a good yardstick to measure how good ward is I'd say ward is a notch or two below a prime calzaghe somewhere around there loses to Joe in a close fight.

Joe has 2 significant wins- Kessler and old ass B-Hop who would have schooled him in his prime.

Froch has consistently fought the best, Joe fought the best twice.

Froch easily rates higher even though head to head I'd pick Joe to school him badly. Froch's resume destroys Joes pathetic reign of destroying cans and once every 5 years fighting a threat.

He was done at SMW, and losing two fights after at Cruiser Weight doesn't change that fact.

The guy had to weight drain big time in a few days for the fight to as he was called in at the last minute and no longer fought at the weight.

Calzaghe has the comfortable win over kessler though but even if froch beats kessler in good fashion in the rematch I cant rank him higher as it's clearly not the same prime hungry unbeaten kessler calzaghe faced.
