Doesn't matter when you look at

    past prime shot Taylor
abraham protected stay at home german hypejob blown up middle out of his depth
kessler way past prime never the same since loss to calzaghe and wasnt that great to start with a robitic style
    alan green no comment needed
dirrell fast stick and move fighter with less pop than calzaghe talented but no heart
Froch tough but predictable plodder easy to hit and easy to avoid
    Bute no comment
Johnson solid fighter but old man now who probably would have beaten them all when he was younger

Come on man these guys are not atg super middles both ward and froch are being overrated.

Calzaghe great champion, but his resume is not better than Froch by any means. But this may not be his fault, Steve Collins ducked him, and he came at a time when the past fighters had gotten old. so its not his fault. But despite whether it is his fault or not, he still doesnt have an impressive resume. The best wins he has is Kessler and B-Hops. At this point B-Hops was not prime, but neither was Calzaghe, but he was the one with the momentum at the time P4P. I didnt feel Calzaghe dominated... Kessler is his best win.

Froch on the other hand has consistently fought elite level-A level opposition -- and has won more than he loss ultimately. He a G and his resume is better than Calzaghe.

Waving? :huh You're post makes no sense. You said he CLEANED out the division. That has nothing to do with Froch, since you are clearly talking about Joe C and his tenure at 168.

All I did was post the top contenders at the time Joe C was defending his wbo belt. His level of op would have been GREATLY increased changing those names with the tucker pudwell's of his reign.

So, next time, try and think before you post rubbish. I like Joe C. Always was a fan of his.

And try to act like an adult in the process. There's plenty of whiny brats without you going all toddler. :thumbsup

If Froch can pull it out against someone like Ward or Kessler during this new title reign, and/or maybe win a title at light heavy then unequivocally he should be rated neck and neck with Joe.

Joe has that W over fellow Hall of Famer Hopkins, Froch needs something to match it IMO

    Was in shape.

    Came to fight.

    Had stamina.

    Had chin.

I think he had lost a notch of his reflexes and speed, and thats about it. Surely past prime, but I cant see how you can call him shot. Shot is when a guy like Taylor gets KO'd by AA, or when Mosley runs for his life against Pac, or a flabby Sam Peter KO'd by Helenius. A guy who still can make a fight out of it aint shot.

It's not as true as it used to be. Wlad och Vitali reigns in Europe, recently Froch and Bute fought in UK, and next is Froch and Kessler, also in UK. Haye and Chisora also ...

I dont think that is true, Holyfield was shot to **** and can still put up a good scrap.

i think we are splitting hairs when it comes to Eubanks, it is clear that he was no where near his best and was planning on moving up in weight but got the shot at the belt so took it on short notice, fought his next two fights at CW (two weight classes higher) and lost those fights and retired. Chris was a great fighter but he was no longer great when he fought Joe.

Neither was RJJ, and I do not think he beat Bhop so that leave Kessler as the only great fighter he beat in his prime . . . and that was no blow out despite what people remember and the cards say. I know bailey will be spamming this thread soon with all his facts and figures (about the WBO rankings . . . the WBO once rank a fighter after he was dead!).

RJJ, Joe and Bhop remind me of PBF and Pac of today. they never fought each other when it counted (Bhop was not ready to fight RJJ in their first fight). the BIG difference is that the talent in and around the WW division today shits all over fighters around MW in that era

by the time calzaghe moved up to 175...he had won every belt & there were no legitimate contenders left for him to face. he cleaned out the division.

but you're bring up markussen & larsen...but you're giving him **** for facing pudwill (a late replacement for tate)? those guys are basically euro pudwill's. no-one gave a **** about those guys.

what thread am i in? :huh

funny how guys like shot taylor, blown-up mw abraham, past-it kessler, green dirrell, 42 year-old johnson etc are all "elite super middles" in their "prime" when people are arguing that none of those have existed for 10 ****ing years before that.
