You slow down considerably at a 6 mile pace. Especially somebody who is not a college or pro runner. I ran 4:37 1 mile and a 10:24 2 mile. At 3 miles I'd probably approach a 6 minute pace. And 6 miles probably 6:30
I wasn't clear I wasn't talking about 1 mile, I was talking about running 6 miles or more at 7 min mile pace. Christ there are 13 year old girls who can run a sub 7 min mile lol. I did a 6 min mile after just a month of running.
My majority of my service was either running, swimming or humping in preparation for special ops that were never particularly special. But kept the entire company at or near perfect on our PFT. LMAO
I could run a mile in 6 and two in 14 in my prime, never ran over 3 1/2 but I was 6-3 215 at the time. Six in 40 is moving! If it's true. Like AJ's 11 second hundred meters, I'd have to see it first.
I personally don't find it that impressive, yeah he's a bit quicker than me (6.2k in around 42mins) but he is professional athlete who is would walk around at 185-190lbs? Now if you told me he was running 6 miles in 36 minutes than i would perceive that as a big difference. I've done a mile in 5:50 so couldnt imagine him getting close to a 4.30! I would say 5:00 would be a challenge for him as most runners who are around 5 minute pace for 1 mile would probably be looking at 33-34 mins for 6 miles. Kell Brook did a local 10k in Sheffield in 4-5 years ago and I am sure he got around in around 44-45 minutes without breaking too much of a sweat and back then wasn't training with the same intensity of Carl Froch
Anthony Farnell did 10k in around 45 minutes. Jamie Moore 40 minutes . This was the Manchester 10k. I also remember Mickey Ward being a very good middle distance runner. Froch has long limbs and is a natural athlete , and had a world class stamina. 40 minutes is not excessive for someone this good when the worlds best do it in 28 minutes.
When I was running regularly I got my 10k time down to about 52 minutes. But yea 40 minutes for someone not solely dedicated to running is impressive
It’s not a great time for someone of his calibre. You go into any pub in the country and there will be a bloke there who can average 6:30 min mile. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fast, I used to be in the Royal Marines and I used to always do timed runs (still do) and my record was 5 miles in 30:30. I was one of the slowest in my whole troop! I’d expect every world champion boxer to be able to run 6 mile in 40 minutes, if they can’t they need a new fitness coach.
Wish we could get every boxer after a 12 week camp, to run a few miles and compare times. Kell Brook and the Ingle gym as a whole are big in to their cycling and running, reckon they have decent times.
