No way is this the case.Throughout his career he has shown a willingness to fight the best guys.Nobody fancies getting into the ring with him and why would they.Even now Taylor has little to gain from fighting Froch he still isn't regarded as a big name but hopefully this fight will be the start of something new
Thats why I said even now meaning even now Froch has the WBC strap.Perhaps I should have said.If he really fancied the job he'd have accepted an earlier offer IMO
Taylor had his comeback plan. That was Lacy. Froch is getting a 'touch' more money now than Dibella offered him before. Taylor has his guaranteed money with Showtime. He wasn't taking less to fight Froch. I think Froch has/had more serious injuries than he let on and didn't want the fight on March 28. The purse bid has been extended twice. Taylor announced his plans to fight Green. Froch is desperate for a fight with someone that can offer a payday. Froch's people knew if this went to purse bid, Taylor was fighting Green. This one isn't hard to figure out.
You know, straight up, I don't think he was selling himself. I believe the guy wanted JC because he knew time was running out and he thought he could beat the Welshman. Whatever we think of him the guy has amazing belief in himself. Here's a guy gunning for JT straight away, no dodging for the easy payday, no hand picking opponents, straight in there. For the haters out there know this, if boxing had more guys like this it would be a far better sport for all involved.
Yeah, needs more low skilled fighters that fight like drunken bar room monkeys screeching their balls off. atsch
Whats not hard to figure out here is that Taylor isn't licking his lips at the prospect of fighting Froch. He could have fought him for more money and the vacant WBC belt before Lacy but of course that was his 'comeback plan'.All part of the gravy train that Taylors career has become to put it in Frochs words
Taylor was still under HBO contract at that time and they wouldn't approve Froch as an opponent (because nobody had ever heard of him). And you can bet that HBO paid Taylor more money than he would've gotten by going to the UK and fighting on ITV; don't believe everything Mick Hennessy says.
Taylor got $2.5 Mill for fighting Lacy. I don't know what Pascal/Froch got but probably not that combined.
Better that than frauds hiding behind titles and refusing to get on a plane. Not many guys take on an opponent better than a journeyman for their first defence...... Froch has been CALLING OUT Taylor. This has **** to do with money - if it was he would have accepted the offer to fight Calzaghe 18 months ago with all the stupid options that Warren wanted.
Taylor won't come to the UK for **** regardless. He doesn't fancy Froch atall, let alone over in his backyard
Froch doesn't have the following to command much for a defense on his own merits. That is why he needs a Taylor to cash out with. The WBC I think is behind the scenes kicking and screaming for this fight. They want Taylor. Plain and simple. Froch won't bring them much money in fees. Froch probably believes in himself, but who is he going to fight that is a credible opponent that assures him keeping the belt right now?
Bull****, plenty of guys that would give Froch a nice little payday, low risk. Who says he needs to fight a credible opponent? He doesn't. He only needs to defend against a top 10 ranked guy twice a year. Thats it. Now the WBC top 10 is as follows: 1 .- Jermain Taylor (US) 2 .- Andre Dirrell (US) 3 .- Andre Ward (US) 4 .- Marcus Johnson (US) 5 .- Jean Pascal (Haiti/Canada) NABF 6 .- Sakio Bika (Cameroon) 7 .- Anthony Mundine (Australia) 8 .- Alejandro Berrio (Colombia) 9 .- Robert Stieglitz (Germany) INTL 10 .- Fulgencio Zuñiga (Colombia) He could have his pick of those guys. And look who he's going for. No1 straight off the bat. But somehow I feel I'm wasting my time with you dude.
