i was glad to see carl froch actually using his boxing skills against AA. before the fight i was worried he would try to fight AA and get drawn into a war but he boxed a very clever fight and showed the skills he really has.

the way froch had been fighting before saturday he was taking needless punishment and i hope he continues to box more and get involved less cause he really has a chance of winning the super 6 if he does.

anybody else agree that if he boxes he can win it?

yeah froch has a great jab, but it seem to have gone out the window since the pascal fight, he did a perfect job saturday night and i hope he goes on to win the tournament and fight bute.

We shouldn't get too ahead of ourselves. An inactive punch-bag that was Arthur Abraham on Saturday night, can make anyone look a good boxer. Whereas a quick, mobile person like Dirrell, does the opposite.

I think he's got a great chance to win it, yes, but Ward is going to be very tricky. But I am liking this Carl Froch more than the other one.

yes but the way he was fighting he looked as crude as AA. also fighting this way he will have a longer career

Definitely. He'll also go on to have a successful stint at 175 should he continue fighting this way.

But the only person I see him losing convincingly to, is Ward.

ward v bika was the first time i have seen ward but with what i've heard he can box and fight if he needs too. i think carl stuggles with boxers with fast hands but saying that if he boxes he would not take the same punishment he has in the past. i'd like to see him try and counter punch ward if they meet in the final.

this fight could really go either way but froch's experience could see him through

Yeah you should check out the Green and Kessler fights, too. He so far has shown great signs of versatility, and boxing wise, is very mature. I can't wait to see how he deals with Froch - who I think stylistically will make things very interesting for Ward.

Yeah nice skills and very good fight, he has got a mean jab and worked with AA tactics (well if you could call them tactics) i know he threw a good few punches back but thought he would of done better tbh

He can use his skills against Johnson, that would be his best avenue of winning the fight to keep it long as much as possible and only trade when its absolutely necessary.

He's going to have to go in there guns blazing against Andre Ward though. Looking to jab Andre Ward will not be successful, Andre moves too well and Froch will only be leading into thin air and giving up countering opportunities. He's going to have to be very aggressive.

Carl froch has always had the skill-set to see off most european/world contenders ,it seems that he had generally failed to listen to a wise Rob Mccracken though.
I think a combination of losing to Kessler and growing up have made him realise that he can't fight everyone the same way he had been up to now.He has dropped the machismo "i'll do it my way" act and has been listening to sound advice from his corner.
It's been refreshing to see and big props to Rob and Carl,,a job well done.

I agree, he had some nice things to say about Rob after the fight, nice to see the respect Carl has for him

McCracken is a geniune world class trainer. His advice always pays off in spades when Froch follows it.

What was really impressive was his power and snap on his punches. I'd underestimated how heavy handed Froch is. Along with his jab thats what won him the fight and allowed him to be so dominant. Abraham had to walk through fire to get to him, every punch was getting his attention and making him think twice before coming forward. I've always said Froch was a deceptive boxer who suprised his opponents once they got in the ring with him.

He will beat Johnson in a distance fight, something like 8 rounds to 4. Wouldn't be surprised if he were to stop Johnson, i think he'll be much more gun ho. He'll lose to Ward in the final though. Ward is to skilled and adaptable.

the point is though that he chose to box and stayed disciplined for the whole fifteen rounds, he didnt even engage needlessly in the last round when abraham actually came after him, which is a good sign for froch and his fans.

he still has this kind of plodding, cumbersome look about his work though. he never looks very fluid.

    edit: i said fifteen lol

Yeah, that jab was punishing. I'd like to see the warriors who are questioning Abraham's resolve walk through a few of those. Abraham took them all night trying to get near Froch.
