He was quite easily faster than Abraham.

Aside from that, quite a few of his opponents have praised his speed. I think it's deceptive.
I disagree, largely because Froch has never been bothered by trading punches. Kessler and Abraham clearly have been and that helps Ward because he's able to fire off combinations and not see much coming back, especially against Abraham. However, any time Ward throws, Froch will throw back. That's just the way he fights, so I won't worry too much about him actually throwing his punches.

Honestly, I think both men are going to be pretty happy to trade and the only thing that will spoil that, is if Froch starts to hurt Ward in which case he'll go defensive and hold a lot. In the early rounds though, I can see Ward outlanding Froch and then when Froch figures him out, as I think he will, there'll be some good action and both men will take a few good shots. The result of that will either be a Froch stoppage or Ward will get on his bike.

    Very good post :good
I've always said he's not much of a puncher, but have never really thought to analyse why (although I'm sure I've noted before his lack of snap) bit he really is quite slow; case in point his laughable right uppercut, which even now he now shoots with from miles away

But no, he's definitely an accumulation puncher at that. Thudding, CLUBBING maybe. But I can't see him stopping Ward unless he lands a miracle shot and mages to put him away, unfortunately those don't figure in my analysis too often so I'm sticking with Ward decision, but not as wide as Abraham, Bika or Green, 8-4 I reckon.

    I think PK termed it...

The "Ken from Street fighter uppercut"

And thats about right  It's quite ridiculous how he throws that from 2 feet away.

Froch has proved time and time again he is world class. He may not be everyones cup of tea (I'm thinking of the US audience here) , but look at his record. Reid, Magee (for all you Bute fans), Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell in a close fight, lost to Kessler in a close fight, shutout of Abe, win over Glen Johnson. The majority of these names are top class operators, and he has wins over all but 1! This is a top 10 p4p resume if ever I've seen 1!

Now to the fight. Froch's only loss came against Kessler, a power punching come forward fighter, something which Ward isn't. Froch had problems against Dirrell though, a fast slick operator. Is ward as fast? I don't think he is. Wars is, however, a good accurate boxer (even if he can't punch all that good). Personally I think Ward it too quick and too accurate for Froch. Carl simply has to beat him up and hope the ref is aware of the headbutts and elbows that Ward, brilliantly IMO, pulls off (it is a fight after all lads!).

I expect a Ward UD by 116-112 margin. But it's not a walkover. Froch has the reach, power and arguably heart advantage over the American. He also has a more proven chin at world level. Ward could well try to be the macho man and fight Froch, giving rounds away in the process. By the time he switches it could be too late. Like I said Ward by 116-112, but it will NOT be easy!
