good good fight,if froch beats johnson and ward(Should ward win) in good fashion then this a fight to be made, better than bute v bhop, which bhop would less prefer than fighting froch ide reckon. Although froch could be just as awkward to fight, with frochs good chin, solid power, rangy straight combinations and strong jab, ontop of frochs great stamina, this could really cause big danger for bhop,as smart and wiley as bhop is. Im a bhop and a froch fan and ide prefer bhop to : defeat pascal by stoppage, outbox dawson in style, Expose Bute and finally retire and enjoy being a legend that can sit down and be proud of his legacy. For froch ide like him to: TKO johnson, beat up and KO ward agaisnt all the odds, outbox and stop kessler in a rematch where both are fully fit and well trained, re retire calzaghe in a great british event at Wembley. Defeat a decent light heavyweight title holder.
Sorry dude, 'twas the wrong thread... Point still stands for either Froch or Hopkins! It's easy to confuse threads when you happen to have two Hearn's threads in parallel.
Froch wouldn't outwork him. People always go on about outworking Hopkins like its particularly easy. Pavlik was supposed to do that and all, how did it work out for him? And Pascal? You saw how Dirrell cut Froch's work rate into a fraction of what it usually is. Thats what movement and ring generalship can do. Calzaghe only outworked him because Calzaghe has 10x better footwork than the likes of Pavlik, and Carl Froch for that matter, and basically relied on flurrying 4 or 5 quick punches of debatable effectiveness. Froch loads up on 1 or 2 punches invariably, Hopkins would read him with ease and take him to the cleaners on the inside.
froch knocks him out late on, if joes slaps sorted the old fella out froch would drop him off at the nursing home gates:yep
B-Hop would completely outmanouver Frochy, and has the defensive radar to see Frochs shots coming a mile off. He will take Carls jab away pretty early, and use all his tricks to outwork him throughout. Carl will be strong, push him off and win rounds too, digging into the body could see B-Hop struggle, but we saw against Pascal that when he needs to dig deep he can, and Froch, as determined, tough and capable he is, will not be able to force B-Hop into a fight, B-Hop knows when to grab, spin off and stop Frochy from getting off. So it comes down to a boxing match. No contest there.
I don't think that Froch could bring enough pressure to shake Hopkins out of a rhythm or tire him in the way that Calzaghe did enough to bring a win. So could see this as being a 12 round posing match and take your pick on whose work you prefer with very few punches landed unless Froch could somehow force Hopkins to lead off. If he could do that then I think he could land enough jabs and right hands to win the fight. Hopkins by close UD for me.
I like Carl Froch but almost every time I watch him, I notice bad habits or things that he could do or doesnt do etc. Alot of this is said prior to his fight with Abraham but Froch doesnt throw many combinations, doesnt cut off the ring and doesnt fight on the inside. Froch isnt hard to hit, I believe I read that even Abraham landed over 40% of the few punches he threw against Froch. I think Hopkins would tie Froch up, hold and hit Froch and win a decision. I would be rooting for Froch, but dont think he is versatile enough to beat Hopkins. I always felt that Froch doesnt listen to his trainer and would benefit from someone who would make him do more and throw more combinations. Still what do I know? Not much
Would go to points. Froch might outwork him but Hopkins would have far more ring intelligence and could out hustle him. 50/50 fight.
