I just read that negotiations will begin for Carl Froch v Jermain Taylor for the recent vacated WBC super middleweight strap. (recently relenquished by Joe Calzaghe) I don't know much about Froch but it seems that he's a strand up European fighter w/ limited skills. I seen a few clips of him and it doesn't take much for me to see that he's not schooled or discipline enough to take out a fighter like Jermain Taylor. Taylor showed great improvements in his second fight against Pavlik and looked to tighten up his skills -- Froch hasn't fought a world class opponent as of yet and this will be a huge step up in class for him. I see Jermain knocking this guy out (stoppage) some time during the fight. What do you guys think????
Whatever happens, I assure you Taylor will not stop him. He hasn't got the power, and Froch has a chin. And he's not really a typical European fighter. He's pretty unorthodox, despite having a good amateur career.
froch is much better then people give him credit for, his power is one of the best in the division. hes accurate, but his defence is pretty poor, i expect he will struggle when he goes up a level to fight jermain. if he doesnt knock jermain out i expect him to lose. jermain is a big step up thats for sure. i predict jermain UD
It's a great fight for both men to take. Taylor's first proper 168 fight coming against an undefeated power puncher. Froch's biggest step up in class to come against the former undisputed middleweight champ. Neither man can really afford to lose this, Froch even moreso than Taylor.
I didn't see anything spectacular out of Froch ... I seen his last fight and he didn't seem to have much skill ... the guy he was fighting was a bum and didn't do anything to make Froch tighten up his skills. Taylor is world class ... Froch was fighting with his chin in the air ... he had both hands down and was getting hit. I didn't agree with the way he was fighting - even against a fighter who isn't on his level. I didn't see a jab or anything --
Yep, thats pretty much Carl Froch. He's not always quite so wild and eager, he wasn't taking that guy seriously But he's not a typical "European fighter", he doesn't keep a high guard or use a jab for a start.
Okay ... he's not the typical European fighter, but when he had his hands down he didn't show any savvy ... no head or shoulder movement ... Thats a bad habit that he could pay for against a world class opponent.
Could be, its very difficult to say how he fairs at this level The only thing we know about him at world class level is he has a lot of power. He destroyed some Russian dude in 2 rounds that took Bute the distance.
He could of been under prepared for Froch though as he fought Bute In less than 2 months before he fought Froch.
Well, I've got to think Taylor will outbox him for the most part. He's much quicker, and uses the jab effectively. Froch CAN actually jab, and has a serious reach, but for some reason he doesn't use it much. Maybe he will at this level. I think Taylor will outbox him easily while he's fresh, he should get in and out quickly, because most of Froch's power comes from planting his feet. So he needs good movement. The question I have is when Taylor's stamina starts to fade, as it usually does. He can get sloppy and drop his hands. Froch is a very accurate puncher, and I think he can take advantage of that. Can Taylor take that power - I doubt it very much If Taylor fought like he did in Pavlik II, he'd win an easy decision. But that was one fight, he hasn't consistently fought that disciplined. He can't make any defensive lapses against Froch I think Froch can do it, but I can see why everyone picks Taylor logically.
Good point because even though Taylor has went 12 before ... he doesn't look fresh in the championship rounds. I think its a matter of pacing himself - because I seen it at times, he's swinging for the home run and often times tires himself out. I think that he's done well enough in the early rounds to have a safe run at 12 each time he has went.
