Yeah. He believes in himself and that's very important. He also said he was prepared to take the fight to Pascal fairly early on and make an exciting fight of it, which is great to hear. He said he thought he was the best too, without going overboard but he looked like he was going to try and prove it too. Only worry for me was when he said he intended to retire undefeated having defended the WBC belt many times. You can read that in two ways...but fortunately, with the WBC, from time to time, you have to fight decent mandatories, especially if you're not American, so let's be hopeful.
Great interveiw, and i can say 1st hand a world class operator hes gonna take this belt and i dont think it will even be that hard for him good fighter in pascal but not carls class good luck carl.TONY DODSON
Welcome to ESB, Mr. Dodson!:good How hard does Froch actually punch? What is it about his style that makes him so effective, would you say? What weaknesses can you see in him? Thanks.
To be honest its hard for me to say as i only done 3 rounds (2 of which i think i won)but i think i lot of people make the mistake of thinking this left hand dropping style is going to be his down fall, its not he just wants you to think that to entice you in,so you think that is the way in and thats when he strikes, when you lung in like i did trying to get that over hand right in,and he is so accurate every shot counts and as the fight goes on in the later rounds he just gets better ive heard so many people say to me YOU HAD HIM THERE what happend?and iam the first one to say yeah i was doing well but froch has many arrows in his bow and gets better as the fight goes on so you will never know. And hes does hit hard but again not the hardest puncher ive been in with ROBIN REID hit harder when he was in his prime i done endless rounds of sparring with him from the age of 15 and the name BRUCE SCOTT springs to mind i done 8 rounds aday when i was 19 with him believe me he used to whack was a hard lesson with him
Thank you for that! Very interesting for us here on the British forum to hear these things straight from the horse's mouth. Most of us here would have assumed Froch hit much harder than Reid. In the Reid fight, (admittedly, it was a shot Reid), Froch got hit by some huge, telegraphed overhand rights, straight on the chin, and he just laughed them off. Most of us here think Froch has an iron chin as a result. Would you agree? Many people say Froch is getting stronger as the fight goes on, and it's nice to hear confirmation of that from you! Calzaghe said about Froch that he thought he was quite easy to hit, given that he left himself so open, and that a world class fighter with a good chin and good movement would be able to take advantage of that, and make Froch pay. Would you agree? Or, to put the question differently, what weaknesses do you see in Froch? Thank you for your time and enlightening answers, again, Mr. Dodson!:good
yes does have a very good chin iam a big strong supermiddle and i like to think i can whack real hard myself i caught him with a few but not clean i rushed everything got excited i had waited 3 years for this to happen and realy at the time i took the fight everything was on his side he was fighting 12 round fights against very good fighters i had 5 competative rounds in 3 years not good prep to fight the number 1 in the world aye lol but hay i had to fight him there was to much been said by both of us for it not to happen.AS for fighting joe who i think is a fantastic fighter the best we have had for years i think would be a diffrent kettle of fish carl would prepare diffrent and would be on the ball from the word go he has started to slow again domestic oppersition i think because he know hes in the comfort zone with them if he fought joe he would have to be switched on from start and he knows that 12 months ago i would of whet with joe to win hands down but everytime i see carl he gets better and better and i think its time for the next generation to come through just like EUBANK did for joe the tide is changeing the new kids on the block are here.
It was a shame you never had a good go at Froch. Froch has quite a few good fighters on his record whom he picked off at the right time for him, not for them. His record looks a bit better than it should, really, I think. He was promoted well. I am surpised you think Froch has enough to beat Calzaghe though, even now, when Calzaghe is a bit faded. Would you pick Froch to beat Kessler too? Do you think Froch has what it takes to become the best SMW in the world? Thanks again, Mr. Dodson!:good
i do think he would beat joe and i think its because like you said getting fighters at the right time and hes been very well promoted mick has done a great job and is a great guy was good to me and treated me with respect even though carl never ha ha KESSLER is the danger and thats why ive never heard him even mention his name hes mantions all the other SM but not him kessler is the one man in the supers that i would stay clear of if i was carl at this moment that is but as i said carl is getting better and who knows maybe after this fight i might say diffrent .
I've always thought that as well. Froch seems to be half-asleep against most domestic fighters in the early rounds and you'd think he'd be more switched on against the top guys. However, I do think he would get outboxed by most top super-middles in the early rounds regardless of his mindset, because of his unique style.
Haha! Froch can be arrogant and disrespectful; did you see the way he treated Reid before and during their fight - pushing him with his knee towards the ropes when he was down, as if he was garbage? Not nice...:-( I've read a couple of times Froch saying he would beat Kessler quite easily. He even said he'd KO him at one stage! lol...whether he will or not is a different matter. Mick is promoting him well, but Froch also does a lot of self-promotion, if you know what I mean. lol If Froch beats Pascal, he might get a shot at Taylor, if Taylor beats Lacy (which is quite likely, isn't it), but only if the money is right, of course. How do you see Froch doing against Taylor, Mr. Dodson?:good
i havent seen much of taylor TBH but i did notice taylor is very busy and has a high work rate which may cause carl problems but does he have the chin to take carls big shots over 12 rounds hes gonna get caught so i realy dont know wouldnt bet onit thats for sure
