As I was watching it I had the feeling it was a bit of a robbery, but Dirrell fought like such a b***h it’s hard to feel sorry for him.
Andre Dirrell let himself down in the second half of the fight. But he still clearly won. Carl was awarded points for his aggression, but Dirrell caught him with some great shots and then made him miss. He boxed beautifully in stages. He just has a mental weakness. Carl was unbelievably lucky to have gotten the decision. I think a draw would have been unfair.
This was one of the first fights I scored on this forum when I joined back in 2009 I will admit back then I was a froch guy and never a fan of dirrel and I had froch nick it I watched it again the other night due to it being about 10 years since the super 6 and I wanted to rewatch some of the fights Unfortunately I was watching it more for entertainment and wasn't scoring the fight but I feel like it was pretty close the commentators we're pretty divided on how it was going I think Anthony made Carl look foolish many times in the fight with his footwork and defense however the middle part of the fight was really consumed by holding and Carl was punching. I thought dirrel really lost that fight as much as Carl won it. Dirrel looked so superior in so many ways but gave away rounds. In the 10th he showed if he stuck around and traded he could hurt froch I think another important part of the scoring in this fight comes down to the 10th round where there was a point deduction but froch got hurt with very little time in the round though he did answer back a little bit. Was it enough to make it 9-9 as opposed to a froch 10-8 Dirrel wrapped it up strong probably getting 11 and 12 Dirrel learned and looked great vs abraham I also think he would probably beat Froch in a rematch
Haven't watched it in a while but seem to remember thinking Froch had done enough and as I recall publications I read, I believe, felt Froch had won as I recall. On a separate note. I read that Froch out landed Dirrell. Not that I think punch stats as an overall number count for everything
