Yes, great for Canada. Get a position on the world scene via the Super Six. Very good for future Bute meets with any of the SS fighters.

I think you need to understand the difference between a level of affinity that might lead to a country going to war, and the level of affinity that will lead an indivdual to consider purchasing a ticket for a sporting event based solely on the nationality of one participant.

    It's not that complicated.

Armenian-canadians will go to the event just because Abraham is Armenian. Canadians that at some point in the past were of English descent will not go to the event solely because Froch is English.

You need to understand what I am writing.

I am not suggesting that the majority (which - let's be honest here... will NOT come from neither England or Armenia, but from Canada!) will buy a ticket because they want Froch to win.

I am saying that they will buy a ticket because they are boxing fans. Once at the fight their affinity should make them favor the fighter with similar culture, language etc. That is the case in business, war, sports and so on. Another example is to look at the voting in the Eurovision Melody Grand Prix where countries of similar origins and culture will very clearly vote for each other. They may not buy a ticket to go see the other group, but when they are involved their affinity will show.

So we agree that the committed vocal support as it is will go to Abraham?

In a way perhaps you could spin it like that...

    There could be something like:
    5% strong support for AA
    3-4% strong support for Froch
    50% moderate support for Froch
    5% moderate support for AA
35% truly not has the slightest little preference (which is rare because usually when we watch sports we find a preference).

Bute, Pascal and Eric Lucas are the last Canadian (and Quebec) boxing stars. And they all fought at super-middle weight, hence any fight from this category is a natural fit in Montreal, as the average sports fan will know of the division and of the fighters involved.

Boxing is not the second biggest sport in Quebec/Montreal, but its much bigger in Quebec/Montreal than everywhere else in the rest of canada. Football and Soccer are probably second and third, and maybe tennis, but boxing is growing fast. Most people know the local fighter like bute, diaconu, pascal, alcine, lemieux, ngoudjo, etc, and couple of stars, + fighters that have fought our local, so most people know Froch but still some know Abraham because he is in the super six and it's the Bute division.

This will be sold out for sure (21 273 spectator), just make sure David Lemieux is fighting for a eliminator and it's a done deal.

No disrespect to bradley/holt but appart from hardcore esb fans nobody knew them before the fight. Everybody know froch/abraham in mtl and this will be sold out.

I think it's more a case of they don't want to fight outside of their own hometowns, especially Ward.
