Prime-for-prime isn't a fair question because it's possible we haven't seen the best of Benavidez yet. Problem is, he's a coke head and not the most dedicated trainer, so we may never see his peak. Based on what we've seen so far, the Benavidez who beat up Dirrell would be a tough fight for Froch. Froch is overrated BEYOND BELIEF on this forum. You would think the guy was a young Michael Spinks the way he's praised on here. He's the favorite over Benavidez right now, but we should reserve judgement and revisit this matchup in a few years. But as RIGHT NOW, Benavidez is blowing his career - literally, blowing his career up his nose.
The type of fight Benavidez would have to fight to win..............he doesn't fight that way. Froch wins if it's a rough n tumble scrap.
Ill favour froch now til I see how benevidez turns out I'm not even sure froch cobras him now Hard man.. But overrated... Very overrated
Hard to pick against Froch his record speaks for itself. Benavidez hasn't even proven he's on the level of some of Froch's wins let alone Froch himself. People say he's overrated, I get that, in the ring he didn't have an aesthetically pleasing style, he definitely doesn't pass the eye test with his sloppy style, open defence, technical errors and mediocre athleticism. But he some how beat faster, more gifted, more technically skilled fighters again and again in Kessler, Taylor, Groves, Bute and Pascal. Only Ward really proved to be clearly his superior. Benavidez right now doesn't bring anything that Froch has dealt with and beaten before. Froch by KO inside 10 rounds until Benavidez proves he's on Froch's level.
Kessler and Ward were literally the only guys who I said, "He should beat Froch," and actually did (and even Kessler went 50/50). So as much as my brain says Benavidez, experience has taught me to go with the Cobra.
