If he had questionable stamina he would have gassed in round 5 after all the power punches he was throwing. He was hurt in round 9 and was looking to recover only to see a crook referee wave it off. Fact is, he was still countering with serious power in rounds 8 and 9. Bad chin?, if so he would have been sparked out early.
Groves has just predicted a british version of Hagler vs Hearns with the fight lasting 3 rds. I hope it's just bravado, because he can outpunch Froch, but not outbrawl him. I hope too he gets a cornerman who know his business and can give him good advice (unlike last time). Going in the rematch with the mindset of blowing Froch is suicide.
I think Groves has to stop him in the first 8 or 9 to win or he will gas and get stopped I think he needs to be more aggressive nearly everything he threw landed so I think he will go for the stoppage early, once it gets to the late rounds one flurry from Froch can end it so Groves cant afford to outpoint him
Really? Groves seems to throw a lot of punches early in the fight but can't keep up the momentum due to lack of stamina. I think it's quite reasonable to pick Froch to win another stoppage.
Fact is Groves shot his load way too early and gassed out because he was a) too overambitious early on b) too inexperienced to adapt to a Froch who started to bring the fight to him From the mid rounds on Groves' stamina issues were apparent: he was stumbling around like a drunken sailor, covering up, not throwing anything. If that doesn't qualify for 'questionable stamina' then what does?
He was still throwing and his punches were still good enough to freeze Froch whenever he landed. I'm not saying he has the best stamina out there but he doesn't have bad stamina either considering Froch's pressure and aggression. The reason why he looked like a "drunken sailor" in round 9 is because he was hurt/stunned, that happens in a boxing ring when a fighter is hurt. Every time Froch engaged him he would throw back with power, a fighter with a bad stamina wouldn't last 5 rounds with an aggressive fighter like Froch.
Ok fine, let me rephrase it: Groves fights (or fought) at a pace that his stamina doesn't allow him to fight at for a full 12 rounds. I call that 'bad stamina' but you may as well chalk it up under 'lack of ring experience'. If him and his handlers are smart he will come in with a new gameplan that allows him to conserve more energy in the first half of the fight.
He was winning the first fight fighting the way he was till he got hurt and the crook referee decided to wave it off so I don't see why changes are necessary. Only change he could make is be a little bit less reckless and only throw when necessary since Froch's style is based on outworking opponents and breaking them down. I don't think it was a case of being overly tired(yes he was, but not totally out of it), it was more that Froch got to him and hurt him. Still many people, myself included, wanted to see the fight go on since I believe Groves still had a lot left despite being hurt. I guess the rematch should prove who's right or wrong because if Groves does indeed have bad stamina then he's getting knocked out for real this time late in the rematch.
Groves cracks that chin again. Froch is overrated, Groves exposed him. Froch never faced a puncher before. Groves will be really motivated and the whole stadium will support him. Froch will not have the mental power at this particular fight.
This is pretty much how I see it so far as well. I'll most likely wait till a week before the weigh-in as both fighters reveal how well they're prepared mentally and physically to make a prediction. Got to love fights like these.
It's a tough fight to call but I'm edging towards another Froch stoppage, he's proven himself time and again and in the one rematch he has had, upped his intensity to win. I think the 6th round was decisive in the last fight. Groves threw everything at Froch in this round and failed to stop or even subdue him. Groves gassed a little then just as Froch inevitably came on strong, late in the fight. Despite dropping Froch heavily in the first, the rounds that followed showed Groves didn't have enough power to stop Froch and that will be key in the rematch. I think their is a genuine dislike between the 2 which will result in another aggressive fight from both men and in this type of fight I see Froch's toughness and pressure to be the difference. Froch was on the brink of legitimately stopping Groves and the tide had turned. I see a similar outcome 2nd time round. Groves of course can win if he can be a little smarter and not engage Froch in such a heated battle but with the genuine dislike between the 2 I don't think Groves will choose to box to a points win but will look to KO Froch which will likely lead to him being the one stopped.
Groves ud, if groves did have **** poor stamina it would be a joke of a fight but he does. still shoul be able to do enough for the clear ud but due to his poor stamina he is on his absolute best night a good solid B fighter and a D fighter on bad nights
