It's kind of sad and a bit disrespectful that everytime there is a controversial stoppage or decision people immediately start claiming it to be a fix. A combination of human error, differing judgement and opinion and the simple fact that because of the nature of the sport and potential consequences for the participants any call short of a clear ko or ridiculously dominant display can be questioned generally explains unpopular calls from judges and referees.

You would think with that many refs the stoppage might have been a bit later.

yes, but you have to consider the history of the sport. the fix has been in since the sport's inception. this why you get this reaction from fans.

Groves was very impressive for 5 or 6 rounds but championship fights go 12 rounds. The tougher guys at the top you are not going to blast out of there, especially a guy like Froch, who is vastly experienced and has seen it all at the very top level. The fight isn't won until someone either stops his opponent or it goes the distance. Yes the ref made a bit of a mess of that. Maybe could have let Groves take a few more meaty shots to the head and then jump in, but to be fair, Groves was not gonna make it. He boxed well, but Froch was always dangerous the whole time and he came on strong in those last couple of rounds, with Groves feeling the pace, Froch did some good body work inside.

it was a good competitive fight. Groves won most of the early rounds up to mid way, but Froch got a couple himself and looked the fresher man of the two in the round prior to the stoppage round.

Froch is 36, he cannot have many big fights left, it was a good win for him, ok maybe not a conclusive finish, but Groves was the younger, fresher, sharper man and I'd say this was a pretty good win for Froch.

Groves will go on to grab a title if he's a little more careful and is able to stay disciplined over the course of a fight. He's packing so much speed and power in that right hand. It's that Froch has a freakish chin. I will go as far as to say if Booth was in Grove's corner, he may well have kept his cool, boxed and moved and not engaged Froch to trade with him.

I suppose that's fair, but on such a big stage in this day and age do people really think it's possible to fix a fight? Is it possible?

A true man makes little sense when he is shitting adrenaline and has been punched in the face over a hundred times.

Let's wait until the press conference before we denounce Froch as a bona fide obnoxious ******** of a man. His blood is probably still up.

Can't say that. Although the stoppage was pathetic, and Groves was ahead on the cards, the result was not a foregone conclusion.

How do you know Groves was gonna survive another 3 and a half rounds. It didn't look good for him

But the thing that looks like a fix here is 2 of the judges only having Groves 1 round up, when you include the kd they scored it 4-4 on the rounds which is a joke. Combine that with the stoppage and it could look that way, not saying it is though.

i'd like to think not but look at the first lewis-holyfield fight. the judges are the easiest to buy. the promoters pay for their services so they will be more likely to favor the promoter's fighter. corruption is in every country but some of the stoppages i've seen in the uk are horrid.

That was far less of a fix than most Broner or Chavez Jr fights

Pay 2 judges is all you have to do. How 2 of the judges gave Froch 4 rounds is suspicious

    What a disgraceful stoppage

Ward should never fight in the uk ever
