    Predictions?

Talking to a biased Englishmen at The Casino yonks ago he reckons Froch beats him. That's what they all say though. Everyone was supposed to beat Calzaghe and everyone failed. I don't foresee Joe losing to Froch. But I want unbiased opinions. Not because you're a pro-Englishmen or Pro-Welshman.

What happens in this England vs Wales match up?

This one has been done many times and my synopsis never changes - even Froch concedes he would need a KO, knowing that Zags was to busy to beat on points. But even if Froch was to connect a bomb, Joe had great recovery and adaptability, and would find a way to ride it out

Calzaghe UD every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

Only folks I would favour to have a chance of beating prime Zags at 168 would be:-
    • Roy Jones Jr - I still think that Zags style is probably the one that would have most success against prime Roy, but still have to favour RJJ
    • James Toney - figure this would be much like Zags vs Hopkins
    • Andre Ward - assuming it was in Oakland, where Ward would be able to foul and low-blow his way to a robbery decision ;)

    Done to death.

Like to the point where even death is getting annoyed now.

I'm a biased Welshman for sure. However, one of the reasons I love Calzaghe considerably more than other fighters is just how hard to beat he was

How do you beat someone that could throw up to 1000 punches per fight, and is quite accurate and awkward

To beat Calzaghe you have to knock him out, and no one ever showed they were capable of that. Every time Calzaghe went down and was genuinely hurt, he got back up and won the very next round. His recovery & adaptability was crazy. He also had a nastiness & edge when he got knocked down, I think due to getting bullied in school, he took it personally

Calzaghe UD for me, but again I do think he'd beat anyone really!

Never really a Calzaghe fan but was a fan of Froch, however everything Froch did Calzaghe simply did better, wide UD win for the Welsh man. Actually only thing that Froch did better than Calzaghe and that was he would travel anywhere to get the big fights .

Joe C by clear UD. And I was a much bigger fan of Froch. But Joe C's IQ, speed, movement, and volume would be too much

Froch admits himself that he couldn't beat Calzaghe on points which of course he's right about and that he could only win via stoppage or KO. Problem is that ain't happening either because Calzaghe's chin was every bit as good as his, and obviously Joe was insanely fit and he had a big heart and a fierce will to win.

Obviously we're talking about a prime healthy version of Cazaghe who was able to train properly and spar, not the injury-ravaged mess who hadn't done any sparring or very little if he had

But even then Froch still wouldn't be able to stop the injury-ravaged version of him.

This is the injury-ravaged version who had only sparred 14 rounds in 2 years vs the fighter Froch describes as the hardest puncher he fought

A whole bunch of these bombs are KO shots not just KD ones and some are landing in quick succession

Again, eating lots of flush bombs and a whole bunch of headbutts too albeit unintentional

    Carl Froch

    BEST PUNCHER

Robin Reid: He hurt me the most with a single shot. I can’t say George Groves because he caught me square on in the first fight, when I left my feet behind me. That was a heavy knockdown made worse by my balance being off. Also, after his fast start dwindled, I came on strong, so I can’t say Groves. I remember Reid hitting me and saying, ‘beeping hell, that hurt.’ Jermain Taylor had me down, but that was more of a sharp shot. Robin Reid could really bang, and in my opinion he deserved the win over Joe Calzaghe in their fight. That said, Calzaghe had to be tough to walk through the right hands he took from Reid.

''Froch does hit hard but again not the hardest puncher I've been in with ROBIN REID hit harder when he was in his prime.''

    --Tony Dodson

    Richie Woodhall

    BEST CHIN

Calzaghe: He was a tough geezer. I wasn’t a devastating puncher; I was more of a worker, and that showed against Calzaghe. I hit him many times but nothing affected him

    Mikkel Kessler

Joe was also awkward and effective. And he could take a punch. I would say I hit Joe with some of my hardest shots ever and he took them. Carl is more a hard hitter but he’s slow. But Carl doesn’t respect anything. Even if you hit him really hard he will still come forward

Froch would have stood absolutely no chance against calzaghe and would have been slapped to every corner of Wales.

Totally different levels of skill, ability, speed etc.

He knew it to which was when he was actually offered the fight he wanted nothing to do with it.
