    Froch is made for Jones.

The only thing he has going for him is toughness and heart, Jones would or could finish the fight whenever he decided to.

James Toney was a great fighter.

Roy also beat other very good fighters with ease.

Hopkins wasn't interested in a rematch when it mattered.

Roy fought the same level of competition that Froch did for the most part and won pretty easily.

So what if Carl's never been knocked out?

Roy knocked out Hill and Griffin with single shots, at 180 pounds plus.

Just compare the styles of both fighters.

A guy who walks forward with a poor defence, vs a guy who had one shot knockout power, with great variation and huge advantages in speed, is only going to end one way.

Carl's own aggression would have been his own undoing.

    He's a proud man.

He'd have gone out on his shield.

He wouldn't have gone into a defensive shell, to not get hurt.

He'd have gone at Roy and tried to fight him.

But if you went forward with authority against Roy in the 90's, he was going to try and take you out.

All of this "But Carl's never been knocked out...." means nothing to me.

    We've seen him dropped before.

Roy possessed the speed and power to stop him. Again, he's proven that against bigger guys.

Roy was just on another level. I think it's easy to see why many people view this as a mismatch.

Putting Froch in front of Prime Roy would be a joke.

Like Froch but this would be the most pointless fight. He wouldn't lay a meaningful glove on RJJ. RJJ is probably the worst fighter for him to face ever!

Bernard Hopkins and James Toney.. Antonio Tarver is not a great fighter, a very good one but not great It was the circumstances surrounding that fight as why I classify it a great win. That and the fact that Tarver was a big tall southpaw, and stylistically made it difficult for Jones who admittedly didn't like fighting southpaws.

What are you talking about? He all but cleared out the entire top 10 at LHW save DM. His reign at LHW is unnderrated.. Did you know in all, Roy beat (i think it is close to 20) former, current or future world champions??

Take nothing away from Tarver, that was a great win for him.. But Roy was certainly not the fighter he once was. Besides, it still doesn't undo the fact that Roy dropped from HW and beat the top LHW in his very next fight. Only few have done that.

This is bull****, it was Hopkins who didn't fancy the idea and priced himself out.. This has pretty much been proven as fact.. We can get into it more if you like.

Jones toyed with everyone, it is who he was.. I bet you didn't think he would move up at toy with a top HW either... I don't care that Carl has never been knocked out. Roy was practically 50-0 and 35 years of age and been to HW and back before he was knocked out.. How do we know Carl's day isn't coming?

It is the big, powerful, slick, rangy fighters of the past I give the best chances of beating peak Jones.

I am a fan of Carl, and love watching his fights, he always puts on a show. But lets face it, he is very slow compared to Roy.. Somewhat one dementional, he is very open for counters nearly every time he throws a punch.. I think Roy would have a picnic. Toughness and heart will only get you so far, sometimes you are just outmatched.

You started as a boxing fan when? 2 years ago?

Watch two fights to see why rjj beats Froch.
    1. Roy vs fat Toney
    2. Froch vs Dirrel

Styles make fights. We are not talking about warrior spirit or chin. We are talking head to head.

Note, I believe Froch has done much more with his talent than Roy. He has ducked noone except maybe a rematch with Ward that we know he probably wouldn't win and in which he'd make less money than fighting a Chavez Jr type. Roy seemed to avoid some fights. Maybe that was politics.
