I think Froch would probably KO him.

This is a fight that I'd love to see. I'm not a massive fan of catchweights but this at 164lb is pretty much a perfect catchweight fight i reckon.

I think its a great fight for both fighters, winnable for both and a legacy boost for whoever gets the win. Martinez at the moment doesn't have a fight at middleweight that can greatly improve his record at present, maybe in 12 months time, Golovkin perhaps might be at that stage, or an unbeaten Alvarez moving up after a few quality wins but at the moment there no great win there for him. So unless he can entice Mayweather into a fight at 154lb or above, which is doubtful, he's lacking legacy options.

Moving up in weight is going to be difficult for him, not sure he can go as high as 168lb comfortably which is why Froch is perfect for him, he himself comfortably makes the super middle limit and looks like he could drop a few pounds. If he can do that healthy and keep his workrate and durability he is a massive test for Martinez, one i'm not sure Martinez would beat.

As for Froch, outside Kessler this is the most winnable legacy fight he has avalible to him (I don't see how he can ever beat Ward) and has the potential to do good business. So I can see it being one he'd consider.

Hm. Not sure if it'd ever get made but I'd have to think about this one. Have a bit of faith in Carl after the assraping he gave to my boy.

Froch gets to him late after being outboxed and down on the cards. Great fight.

Froch. He has the pop, and the desire to put Matinez's lights out. Plus Carl has the natural size and strength advantage.

Froch.. His size and power will be too much for Martinez.

Depends... MArtinez needs to stay on his toes and not get into ANY trading... then perhaps he could pull it off.. but will be very difficult.

I see it as 60-40 for Froch, but it also depends how fired up Froch is. If it is the Froch from the Ward or Johnson fights.. then I think Martinez has at least 50% chance or more.

Froch would absolutely brutalize him seriously.

anyone thinks martinez dominates froch is seriously deluded. macklin and barker were euro and fringe worldclass middleweights and held their own agaisnt martinez until the later rounds.

froch is completely on a different level to these two opponents yet your saying martinez dominates froch more than the those other two.

i'm not saying martinez couldn't prevail but to say dominate froch where no one else has, ward fight was wide margin but still competitive, seriously overate martinez.

This article was written in Aug 2011, as was the OP.

MUCH has changed since then, and I doubt this fight is being discussed now.

Although, I would like to see it as it is an interesting clash in styles and fighters.
