His team believes(correctly) that this is his best chance at a world title. Froch looked average against an ABC fighter(Johnson) and struggled mightily with a war weary Taylor before stopping him.
My point: he's erratic and Oosthuizen has a better chance of catching a slugger like Carl Froch on an off night than taking the title from Ward, Dawson or Dirrell in the near future.
Good calculated risk(IMHO) for a fighter who would have found it difficult to market himself otherwise...

i want the pavlik fight. i don't know or care about that guy.

Pavlik froch would be a great fight that imo could go either way.

Those aren't legit belts DUMMY. Froch has a real belt and Oost will make 5 times against Froch than he would against those guys. Dismissed.

Fan friendly fight, but Froch eventually starts walking through Oosthuizen's power and takes his heart. 8th Rd TKO.

Froch has improved massivly since the taylor fight the defeat to Kessler was the best thing thats happend to him. He now tries to box more rather going to war everytime which have resulted in easy, clear wins over Abraham and JOhnson.

He looked average against Johnson becuase he didnt get out of first gear it was an easy fight for him. I think Johnson won 1 round the whole fight.

In his last fight he took another highly rated undefeated fighter and smashed him up.

Ive not seen Oosthuizen but he most be confident he can pull something off but its a big ask

I agree, Sierra is a tough customer, but I heard that the stoppage in this fight was bull****. Did anybody see this who can comment?
Apparently Thomas was well up on points anyway though.

I like this fight for Froch. Tommy comes to fight. This should be a fan friendly all action war. I epect Carl to win with superior power and eperience, but it will definately be no walk in the park. Respect to both men if this fight goes ahead. They both could have taken easier fights at this ppint

"Froch’s promoter Eddie Hearn is said to be in negotiations with Oosthuizen’s promoter to try and put the fight together. For Froch, this is a much safer fight than putting him in with Pavlik, because Pavlik would have a very good chance of knocking Froch out if they fought. Pavlik can do pretty much everything that Froch can do only better. The only way Froch could beat Pavlik is if he tried to box him, and I don’t know if even that would work for Froch, because Pavlik is pretty quick on his feet and good at cutting off the ring on his opposition nowadays. Froch doesn’t move quick enough himself to elude a puncher like Pavlik."

It could be as u say , Thomas is a very 'rangy' guy with some pretty decent inside fighting skills but Froch is at a different level. I think Froch can walk through Thomas punches but the question is , if Oosthuizen can resist to Froch's power and aggression ?! Anyway , as u said , is a good move for Oosthuizen at a legit world title , fighting with a top smw .

dude , calm down ! U can't compare Stigletz vs Abraham winner & the Regular WBA Champion Balthazy with a title shot against to a top smw as Froch is , period ! Plus Froch is a top proven smw, incomparable with Balthazy,Abraham or Stigletz ! :yep:deal

Oosthuizen is a more dangerous opponent for Froch than Pavlik is...saying that I dont think Carl will have much trouble with him.

His chin looks pretty sturdy but he leaves himself wide open for the right hand

I've noticed that the talented Andre Dirrell is out of the smw business. I wonder if the super talented Andre Dirrell would've proposed a rematch to Froch in U.K ( London or Nottingham ) , after Froch won the IBF title, what would've said Froch about that ? :think

imo opinion a rematch between these guys is still very interesting.
