1) Kovalev and Ward fight in the same weight class

2) Kovalev isn't as big of a star as GGG and neither is Ward.

3) GGG fights at 160 and wants to unify the titles and get the Canelo match. No sense for him to move up at this point.

4) Cotto had something Canelo wanted (the belt), and the PPV did huge numbers so the purse was irrelevant. Also you have to consider Canelo sponsorship deals and all that. Canelo gained more from that fight than Cotto.

GGG is not a star. His biggest fight flopped and there is zero hype or buzz around tonight's fight.

He didn't get no Canelo match when he turned down Ward. He wanted to fight Ward victim Froch who was retired , but he didn't want to fight the guy who beat Froch who was active. That is a absolute punk move.
