Ward had no titles and wasn't relevant at 168. GGG has bigger targets (Canelo) in sight.

 

He was 160-165 when he won the gold medal. Ward would have no problem going back down or even meeting GGG at a 170 CW . He was tiny next Kovalev.

How is that relevant to anything concerning GGG and Ward? Hell, there are probably more people who know Ward as the guy who sparred with Nate Diaz than people who know him from boxing.

GGG vs Canelo is the big money fight and the biggest money fight in boxing.

Also, GGG winning against Ward wouldn't improve his legacy in the eyes of casuals who don't know Ward. Why don't they know anything about Ward? Because Ward beat a bunch of people they don't know. Then after he gets that done he will be the biggest A-side of all A-sides and let's see if bums like Ward would be willing to line up.

 

Ward was 178 when he won the gold medal. That was his weight class. LHW. He looked big and strong at 175 and it looked like his natural weight class. He's tall and has big frame. He could be a CW too.

Ward isn't a challenge for GGG, Canelo is. Why are you deliberately so dense? Which boxer would pick a Ward fight over a Canelo fight?

 

Ward would be a better win than Canelo who has a MW record of 0-0-0. And Canelo made it clear he is not interested in the fight , so GGG chasing Canelo is just an excuse for the ducking of Ward.

Ward was righ there in front of him with a fair and even 50/50 offer on the table and he said - no thanks , i gotta go fight a welter weight instead and wait for the fight that will never happen.

 

No, he fought at amateur Light Heavy , he was not a professional light heavy . 178 is one pound bellow HW. Amateur weight classes are not the same. There is no SMW in amateur boxing.
Ward was 160-165. Even as a pro he had two early career fight at 160.

No Ward wasn't "in front of him", because Ward isn't even at his weight class and hasn't fought at a weightclass above Golovkin's for almost 4 years now. Ward never wanted to make that fight happen. Making an "offer" that you know the other side won't accept isn't wanting to make the fight happen or being available. Ward wanted to make his name off GGG the bigger star.

Ward would have been a better win on the record for hardcore fans, but the boxing world revolves around the casual fans, it always has.

Canelo will eventually have to fight GGG if GGG stays at 160. That's the whole plan.
