Carl Froch "wants to fight the best"

Discussion in 'British Boxing Forum' started by Earl-hickey, Mar 1, 2012.

  1. I agree.

Froch should fight one decent opponent in every three fights, with a couple of bus drivers in between, of the ''never been stopped'' variety.

boxing needs more fighters like froch imo to many fighters and promoters bang on about risk v reward, chris hoy cant say i aint racing him today he looks bang on form its what he as to do what he trains for daily.
like united saying we aint playing city so if they dont lose to them they still have a claim to being the best team, boxing really needs to sort its self out ****ing gimme fights

Here's how a "Well Promoted" Froch's Resume could possibly have looked

    Pascall - Nottingham
    Brinkley - Nottingham
    Andrade - Nottingham
    Taylor - USA
    Steigletz - Nottingham
    Stevens - USA
    Abraham - Germany
    Magee - Ireland
    Kessler - Nottingham
    Johnson - USA

Froch could have done that route, that is a cross between the typical british titleholder route, and the tough route, he'd quite probably been undefeated if he followed that and he'd be a darn sight better off too.

You can't compare boxing to other sports.

Boxers fight 3 times a year, and a defeat can spell the end at any time, it's a short shelf life and these guys have a right to try and profit from what they do.

Of course we all want to see the best vs the best, but how often does that happen?

Other than Maybe Muhammed Ali, name me one top drawer box office star who fought the best back to back to back.

Roy Jones? Mike Tyson? Not on your life sunshine.

It's just not how it works.

Best you can hope for is competetive fights scattered between a few imported tin cans.

Not sure how you work out he would be better off. You can't magically have him in 10 fights when he previously had 7. You also need to factor in that his mandatory for the WBC was Andre Ward.

He could have crammed an extra 3 in without injuries and stiffs like Brinkley would hardly have needed a break afterwards.

As For Ward, duck him, drop the WBC and fight for the WBO, "Ward doesnt make enough money", bob's your uncle.

As for he wouldn't of been better off, fighting easy fights at home, how much you think Joe got to bash up Manfredo? What you think Bute was getting paid to fight whatever bums of the month he took on last year?

I said Name me a Box Office Star

Carl Froch most certainly is not one

    Which demonstrates my point

hope Carl is making an absolute killing from this, because as much as i love watching him fight, i can't see him winning this one. he really should have taken an "easier" fight and bashed up some "name" before getting back on the horse in the autumn.

wouldn't be surprised if this was carls last fight. at least at this level.

carl doesnt do ten year stints of bums, he wants the best now.

hes a real man, listen up Floyd and co.

if all boxers had this attitude then we'd know who was the best very quickly.

It can't be a cash out fight because that will be in Montreal Canada were Bute draws 15,000 fans fighting guys like Miranda, Magee, Brinkley and I think he did somewhere around 12,000 and 13,000 against a shot Joppy. So If it was a cash out fight I would've imagined that Froch would have gone to Canada were this Super-Fight could have drawn on the Olympic Stadium somewhere around 25,000-30,000 ppl. Not to mention it would have been on prime time on Epix.

I agree with you guys, I would have been just as happy for Froch to have lined up someone like Andrade at home for his next fight, to at least gain some more of the spotlight now Sky and some of the Press are aware of him and to line his pockets better for his retirement.

Fighting Bute after a loss is a bloody risky fight. I know Bute gets panned a lot online, but I don't think he's as average as people like to try to make him out to be.
I'll be going to watch this live in Nottingham if it gets made as it won't be boring thats for sure
