his fights are usually pretty boring right up to the stoppage, but this was genuinely exciting and has made a fan of both boxers.

i hope he sticks to his word and chases a big unification fight, but after those 12 rounds he deserves an easier defence to start with.

Well I went along and as a fight I thought it was brilliant and it must have looked good on telly .Both fighters seemed to think defence began with the chin .Beforehand I didnt think it would last more than five but on the bell at the end of the fifth I was really worried thinking the younger faster man would pull through thankfully Frotch seemed to compose himself and calm down a bit .
Surely fighting and beating Pascal makes him world class

Great performance. Worried me a lot in the first half of the fight when he hung his balls out and traded with the guy but when he got back to his boxing he looked pretty comfortable. Nice to watch a British star with a granite jaw for a change. Does wonder for the nerves when watching come fight time. I have gained a lot of respect for Pascal for also showing a rock soild chin and plenty of guts. Very magnanamous in defeat too. This was a great fight for ITV to show and will do the profile of the sport a lot of good. Great entertainment and well done Froch

He is not the best fighter but I think he will be invovled in very entertaining fights, so I'm a fan. First world class guy he faces though....he will lose.

I've nothing personal against Froch but I just don't like the way he boxes. He boasts of having exceptional boxing skills but I've yet to see them emerge. He's competent enough and he's powerful but he loses form when tired and his left hand is held dangerously low and his chin is often exposed. I can't say I'm a fan.

He needs to start unifiing the division, Sakio Bika is the obvious candidate whether the fight takes place in Australia or London it'll be huge

I doubt that Froch is interested in the IBO title and probably even less interested in a 12 round snorefest with Bika. He needs Kessler but not right now.

    Froch & Pascal were tremendous.

I couldnt believe the size of Pascal - he must have been 180lb+ last night.

Froch has the only belt worth fighting for so any supermiddles with ambition will come for him or they can sit back and collect paydays defending tin pot titles such as the IBF and WBO.

Froch should go for Bute will he's shown vulnerability. I'm surprised Pascal/Bute never came off as a domestic. Both classy boxers, should be a cr

his hands arent slow. even in the later rounds his jab was getting through, and he gave as good as he got in the toe to toe.

I cant see him beating Kessler on that performance, but he was probably nervous as **** so lets see how he does in his next fight. Hopefully it'll be Taylor, beating him would give him a name in Yankland.

Carl Froch's promoter is keen for the newly crowned world champion to take on Jermain Taylor in his first defence.
Froch claimed the WBC super-middleweight title with a unanimous decision over Jean Pascal in Nottingham on Saturday night.
Taylor, the former undisputed middleweight king, is the WBC's mandatory challenger, although promoter Mick Hennessy believes the American is less than keen on sharing a ring with Froch.
"Jermain Taylor has bottled it before," said Hennessy.
"He had a straight shot at Carl but he went into an eliminator against (Jeff) Lacy instead, which was a ridiculous backward step.
"He's now Carl's mandatory challenger but it looks like he's already looking for the exit signs.

"He's already looking to fight (IBF champion) Lucien Bute in his next fight instead, because Bute looked vulnerable in his last fight.
"Carl's the most exciting fighter in world boxing and he didn't have to take risks like that. What he's done tonight is going to make him a marquee star because not only did he beat a brilliant challenger, he beat him in style."
Froch's ultimate long-term ambition remains an open-air showdown at the City Ground, home of his beloved Nottingham Forest, but first he will tentatively plan a first defence in March or April provided his injuries heal.
The 31-year-old needed stitches to his left eye and both fists after a brutal 12 rounds with Pascal, and afterwards revealed he had also suffered a perforated eardrum and a cracked rib in the fight build-up.

Can't you ****ing read? I didn't say it wasn't "something special" to be a world class boxer but now he's in the company of Kessler, Taylor etc and I was judging him at that level. He'll struggle with those guys, his defence is poor, he hasn't got the reflexes to keep his hands down the way he does, its a good job he's got a decent chin or he'd be cannon fodder.

I've been a believer since the Tatevosyan fight.

The opponent turned up and Froch delivered.

Improvements can be made, but he showed he can win even when taking big shots which is a good sign. Don't think he needs to fight this way all the time. I believe he will make the necessary adjustments to hold onto the title vs further good opponents. When he combined boxing with punching, at bit more smoothyl, he'll be hard to beat indeed. He's more effective than he looks, right now.
