Legacy wise, it makes by FAR the most sense and I do believe it would do well in terms of gate reciepts as well.

 

Being honest....

Of all the names on that list - Kessler, Taylor Pavlik Abraham etc...

Calzaghe v Froch would be dull.

 

I've been a Froch fan for a while and was very pleased that he is now World Champion. I am a little worried now though about his speed and defence but i think he will improve now that his quality of opposition will improve.

 

Not seen the fight yet, just the highlights on ITV.com (thanks to ITV for ruining the result of BOTH the Pac & the Froch fights you ASSHOLES) but I was a bit of a fan before the fight, however, from the highlights I seen it looked as if Froch was using his face as the first line of defense for a lot of punches. He made no attempt at defending himself at times.

 

There is alot of good super middleweights out there, i cant see Froch dominating that division .

 

Hands up in surrender... I'm now a fan. The guy seems to have real heart and a great chin (**** knows what his brains going to be like in later life as his hands down style leaves him wide open and he does take quite a few shots!). in terms of producing excitement, saturday's event was like going back to the old days with Benn, Eubank etc. A good bout on council TV!!

Still think Joe C would knock him all over the place. Too fast but he might tire as he went for the world record for punches landed. probably unkind, but I simply don't think he's quite in his league (yet).

 

Obviously i'm a fan, have been for a while, went on saturday and it was a top night, special seeing one of your favourite fighters win a world title in their hometown.

Think people are now realising he has got tremendous heart, he genuinely wants the hard fights, also he's toned down the cockyness which I think has adhered him to more people.

 

Re the tiredness issue. That was Froch's 1st hard 12 rounder. Maybe a bit comparable to Calzaghe v Eubank, where Joe admitted he was knackered early on. Pascal was fresh, fit, ambitious & pretty fast. It was hard in there, and it was both guys' first fight like that, so it's no wonder they found the pace hard. Froch put in fierce attacks all the way through, so it's not like he was content to coast.

If Froch was a FW fighter, he'd no doubt have fought some guy who suddenly appears in the rankings, and blow him out, and wouldn't have to ever show any stamina!

 

Always liked him, not a hardcore fan but he was someone I'd been able to see on tv almost right from the start and wanted him to do well.

He's got a big mouth but I've always had the feeling that was more to try to get big fights...he seemed a quieter respectful guy when he was going about his business to begin with, and the post-fight interview after Pascal was along those same lines.

The fight I guess maintained my level of appreciation, maybe increased it a little more because his chin was just so good. He still needs to use that jab more, because he's not a busy fighter, and he's neglecting defence in favour of soaking it up, but I certainly want to see him continue to suceed.

At present a Pascal-type fighter but with even better stamina/power will be his undoing. He needs to focus on that and work on it.

 

Hope Calzaghe fights him for a farewell fight, would love to see another Lacy repeat.

Froch Is weak against volume punching.

I wouldn't want to see Calz/Froch. It would be a predictable fight with Froch doing well in the first 6 rounds, probably winning 3 maybe 4 of them then Calz would run away with it to a clear UD. Froch is better off not fighting Calz from a marketing perspective but to be considered better than Calz he would need to dominate Kessler and not squeek by or lose to him which I feel he would. Froch just doesn't have the experience although Pascal gave him plenty to think about and learn from.

 

Froch-Taylor is perfect. Taylor has name value, a good jab, decent movement when he goes side to side; BUT doesn't really like to fight being more of an athlete than a fighter, often doesn't fancy. It would be a solid 1st defence, good recognition, and I would argue quite winnable. Taylor has already had a lot of big paydays and I don't know if he has the hunger, the killer instinct.

Right now Froch is a rookie champ, with a hard learning curve, It would take some more hard fights to get him ready for a p4p fighter like Calzaghe. Flip the coin and ask when did Calzaghe gun for big opponents - he didn't do it early on.

Froch can emerge from this Pascal fight as a formidable champ. Pascal badly underrated in most super middleweight lists.
