Froch vs Pascal was a very entertaining fight. Froch vs Taylor less so, but had a Hollywood ending. That's two great fights for two. Froch can hit, has bags of heart, but is deeply flawed and therefore exciting. He used to annoy me for whining about JC not fighting him, but back then Froch was nothing more than a domestic wannabe hoping to cash in on Calzaghe's name. And considering how slow and hittable Froch is, he should be thanking Zeus himself he never got in the ring with Calzaghe, who would have broken records with punches thrown and landed. And fair play to Froch for going over to the States for his first title defence and doing the super six instead of sitting on his trinket.
TBH I don't know how anyone can't like Froch, he's great for the sport, like kman says there should be more fighters with his attitude. Maybe if there was there wouldn't be so much of this "boxing is dying" talk.
Couldn't agree more, if more boxers had his attitude it would be massive. Sure he's not the most the talented, but that's the point, he's just a hard ******* who will give anyone a go. 10 out of 10 for attitude.
I remember seeing Froch when he was about 4-0 and thinking what a great prospect he was. I followed him on and off ever since and im so chuffed he has made it to the world scene mixing with the best. Again, he has a great attitude and is a pleasure to watch. Hopefully now he's had some success he will ditch the Calzaghe ribbing. He's made the opportunity for himself to achieve more!
I don't like the guy, he's a good fighter but overrated. He's too slow and his defence is horrible. That low left hand of his will be exposed if he comes up against someone like Kessler.
I like the guy, He knows when to talk **** and when to be respectful. Not the best technical boxer but hits hard, got a good chin and has big heart. Can't understand whats not to like, but he's not American so I can usertand why some of the more stupid posters would boo him.
I'm American and it's not that I don't like the guy, I just feel like he's overrated a bit. It's impossible not to respect him for the fact that he's willing to fight anyone and do it their backyard. I just don't feel he's very talented, he's very limited physically and skill-wise, but he makes up for that with hard work (he's incredibly well conditioned) and heart. It just pisses me off that he actually has the nerve to say he would take out Calzaghe. Calzaghe would box circles around him and make him look terrible. If they fought my money would be on Calzaghe beating him 11 rounds to 1.
hes very underappreciated guy beat Pascal and Taylor, and hes in the 6 man tourny, Froch isnt in this sport to make money but to make a legacy, boxing needs more guys with his heart.
Some good points made about Froch in this thread. I don't like his fighting style, but the guy has proven he can back up all the **** talk in the ring over and over again. Gotta respect a fighter for that, even if he doesn't possess superb skills, far from it actually. The way he beat JT was a statement, as in "I don't care if you can outbox me or put me down, I will come after you till the final bell rings". I do like a fighter to have better skills, but this (the attitude and determination) is essentially what boxing needs.
