Carl froch has vacated his IBF title and James Degale is expected to fight for it on April 25th.

    Dirrell:

Instead, Froch has decided to relinquish his belt and the IBF have indicated that DeGale must take on American Andre Dirrell in his bid to become a world champion, with an all-British super-fight between DeGale and Froch a possibility for later in the year.

Why would froch give up his title to then fight for it again later vs degale?

He's suffered an injury. Makes good business sense if Degale can win a world title and build up his name more or so to casuals before a potential Froch fight. It wouldn't sell nearly as well if they fought now.

Would Hopkins get a license to fight over here if he isn't a champion?

Father time catches up with everyone eventually and I wonder if a sustained 36 minute hammering by a fit strong fighter in Kovalev will have brought Bhop down to a mortal playing field. Froch fights hard for 12 rounds and while he's messy and wild I think should have the edge... Froch is missing an ATG on his list of wins Bhop would tick that box although I think he's past even his fantastically extended best...

I still don't see the point of a Chavez fight but two guys with good chins, easy to hit and decent power should make for a fun fight

Froch has had a lot of hard fights over a long period of time. The money fights now with the least threat for him style wise.

To me it is now about fighting a name fighter for as much money as possible be it Hopkins or Chavez Jr he beats both handily imo.

I think they'd work something out- he has been boxing at the highest level for years now.

Rather classy statement from Froch today on his vacation of the belt.
