The rumor mill has the former WBA, IBF, and 2x WBC super middleweight champion ending his retirement to answer the call-out from his countryman - a Muay Thai kickboxer turned MMA pro turned boxer. Froch is now over eleven years removed from his "80k at Wembley" glory in the Groves rematch, his last time in the ring. Till, despite being a combat sports veteran of two decades himself, only made his professional boxing debut earlier this year and is currently 2-0. Froch has one inch of height and ½ of reach over Till. He's also fifteen years older, at 47. I'd say this is surely a pisstake and should be ignored, but - we live in a world where a YouTuber just beat a former world middleweight champion, after previously beating Mike Tyson, and proceeded to call out current lightweight titlist Gervonta Davis. So yeah...
Till was formerly linked to Jake Paul for a canceled match in 2024. If he defeats Till, it could pave the way for Carl Froch to be the person that ends our nightmare by knocking Paul's block off. (while getting paid handsomely in the process...making likely more for a couple rounds' work than in every punditry gig he's ever done combined)
Technique wise Till looked good in his boxing matches, but he has a very limited tool set. And he also has very evident stamina issues. Problem is that Till would have a big weight advantage over Froch.
I hope the Cobra stays away from the ring. Are we forgetting he didn't look great in his last two fights 12 years ago? Being "in shape" at 47 and looking good hitting a heavy bag doesn't mean crap when you enter a ring. Mike Tyson had many of us fooled with gym videos and what eventually happened to him? Embarrassed by Jake Paul! Stay home with that lovely wife and make videos Carl; life is good.
Weird one, cause whilst it should be a forgone conclusion Froch beats the breaks off Till, Till looks like he has fairly okay fundamentals but working with a very limited set of skills. He can definitely throw a powerful left hand in boxing whereas most MMA fighters cant translate their power across the sports. As for Froch, looked like a slow old man hitting the bag in a recent video. When you take so long out the ring and a long break from all the head trauma, the next time you start taking blows again it can really effect you. This being said im never going to pick a non boxer to be a boxer as long as the boxer is under 45. Anything 45 or older and 10 years+ inactivity i find it hard to see them coming back successfully. especially at 30lbs over their prime fight weight.
Froch has really grown on me in recent years with his channel. No need to get involved in this ... leave it to the younger ones and boxing youtubers. He had a fine career. There is nothing to prove or be gained from this.
