You're the king of pretending landslide unanimous decisions were close.

If that helps you rationalize that Plant is some elite level boxer above the likes of Froch and Bute, then good for you.

There go your feelings again. I said Plant would go up early on the cards and it would be up to Froch to close the gap. Froch was never on the level of Canelo or Benavidez though.

When has Benavidez proven himself to be elite? His competition has been OK thus far and he is really good, but we should wait a bit before making that comparison fairly.

Much more dominant at his level of opposition than Froch was against the same level.

Plant could trouble froch early with his movement he would slow down and he's not durable enough to stand up to froch for a full 12 rounds. Froch tko

Froch is on another level. Who has Plant beat exactly? 38 year old Dirrell who had drawn with a nobody Kyrone Davis the year before, nah don't see it.

Never rated Plant, he can box a bit but there's holes in his game such as his complete lack of counter punching, an out boxer who can't counterpunch, Froch walks him down and stops him inside 8 rounds, even before Plant's small gas tank becomes an issue. I'd rate guys like DeGale, Bute and Groves a bit higher than Plant if I am honest. Froch has beaten several fighters better than Plant.

Is Benavidez better than Froch though? He doesn't have deep enough resume to make such conclusions

Froch and it's not even close.

Someone in this thread mentioned Canelo and that got me thinking, at 168, who'd win between Canelo and Froch?

I think Froch would, in his prime, have pulled the win off. Tough as they come and it's difficult to bully Froch in the ring. Plus he hits hard. Not the type of guy to play games with. But this maybe deserves its own fantasy thread.

It's a good fight isn't it.. Defo deserves its own thread.. Froch's stamina and work rate, Vs Canelos counters and boxing ability.
I think i'd lean towards Canelo with how quick he accurate he counters. Froch had a great chin but he did touch down a couple of times..Would he hold some of the bombs that GGG did. Argh hard to call.
Froch's reach advantage could be huge as well. Tough fight but I think Canelo might squeak through just being a bit neater and more defensively aware.

Back on the original thread Still think Froch gets to plant... Let's be honest other than than Ward and Kessler 1 Froch was able to get to everyone one way or another.

Comical. The Cobra would knock Plant 's ass out and so would Bute who was a vicious punching KO artist who one punch knocked out a whole bunch of the most iron chinned and toughest 168 pounders around at the time

Plant's claim to fame is getting KO'd by Clenelo and lasting the distance against Benavidez because he morphed from a gazelle in the first half of the fight to an octopus in the second

And of course beating Subway Mike Lee, going life and death vs an ancient Truax, beating Uzecat who lost to Lionell Thompson later that year, knocking out an old Dirrell who needed some home country cooking to get by Yildirim for goodness sake.

    Froch beat

    Kessler
    Pascal
    Bute
    Taylor
    Abraham
    Dirrell (Controversial)
    Groves
    Johnson
    Magee
    Reid

Carl Froch knocks Plant's head clean off his shoulders Groves 2 style and into Jordan's lap at ringside, eyes still wide open, mouth agape with his tongue dangling out.

Yes, at least for anyone who is honest about what they've seen.
